Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,
I've started using my phone a lot more during the day recently so I think it's time to change plan.

I'm on o2 at the moment and have a K610im (with imode).

I want to stick with pay as you go and don't care for a new phone.

Meteor are so far looking the best, 20c calls any time seems a lot cheaper than anyone else.

Just a few things, some times when I ring meteor numbers, I just get an echo of my own voice, I have to hang up and ring again. This only happens with meteor numbers. Does it happen with anyone else and what's the situation with it? Temporary problem etc?

If I go to meteor, can I still use imode?

What's the coverage like? I hear they use the same masts as o2 but the coverage still isn't as widespread?

I just want a simple swap over, but any free credit would be nice so any advice on the best option would be appreciated:)

You can walk into a Metor store and buy a SIM to try it out.

I got a €10 one a while back to try their network, it didn't work out, so I used up the €10 and threw the SIM out.

I don't think you will be able to use imode on another network - it's o2 specific.

If you're stuck on the concept of imode, then 3 probably have the richest mobile internet offering. Flat-rated broadband usage for a month, with free Google, MSN and other stuff. Also, X-Series is on its way soon too..

dont discount them altogether, is all im saying..

To be honest, I don't use imode at all really, in fact, I've only really used it for MSN, which is free until the end of May with o2, and I don't plan on paying 10 a month for it after that as it's not the best and often loses connection.

What is the broadband you talk of? Could I connect it to my laptop and connect anywhere?

I'm not too pushed paying a monthly fee for it yet if it is the one I think it is. Really just interested in cheaper calls at the mo. I can always change again.

Is changing network simple and I can obviously keep the same number I imagine? Would I need a new sim?

In most cases, you would need a new SIM, but you can most certainly keep the old number.

Would it be much hassle to change to meteor and if I'm not happy with it, to change back to o2, while keeping the same number?

just another thing I forgot about, I've a SE K610im I bought from o2, will that work with meteor? Do I actually need a meteor sim or can I just ring up and my o2 sim can be used if I'm change to meteor? Also, will I still be able to log into my o2.ie account if I leave them?

the imode wont work with meteor, yes you can keep your number if you change back, and yes you need a meteor sim you cant just take the o2 one to another network, and no of course you cant use your o2.ie account why would they let you use a free service when you're not on the network anymore

Hehe, well I guessed I couldn't sent texts or anything, but just so I could check up on numbers or whatever in my phone book. Maybe I'll just get a new phone/number altogether and use that for daytime calls.

i don't think you'll be able to get meteor mms or wap settings working on the k610im unless you get it flashed

Yeah I dunno, never really use either though:)

I think I'll just go with a new phone/sim/number with meteor and just keep 2 phones on me, business and personal. I look forward to the day when I can buy a 100GB mp3 player, with sat nav, a phone and wifi:)
