    1. Look in the Galway papers.
    2. Look in shop/cafe windows for wanted signs
    3. Check on job websites.

    Try CPL.ie for IT Jobs

Do you do Development or IT Support?

If you do Dev both Cisco and Nortel are hiring at the moment.

fair enough! to each their own :p

I'd try cpl.ie if I were you, they have an office here in Galway and would know about most IT jobs that were going here. I would suggest ringing their Galway office and explaining that you are looking for anything. Also put your CV live on Monster.ie with a target location of Galway, let them come to you.

If you are a non-EU citizen and don't have a work permit......................nobody can legally employ you.:(

This is what I tell all foreign friends that come over expecting a good/great job: "It won't happen".
The best way if you want to live in Galway is to come over, do the walks around town, look at the websites, be available at moments notice for interviews etc
You have to start at some low-level call centre/kitchen/waiting/whatnot. After some time something will hopefully come along and you need to be here and ready for it when it happens.
Occasionally companies like mine will advertise in foreign FÁS or papers and ship the person over here but that is not likely anymore.

Btw, where you from exactly? EU but need work permit?

Unfortunately Galways not really the IT headquarters of Ireland. Most secondary industry that requires DB Admins & IT Support are headquartered in Dublin. All I can tell you is keep looking, but it may take a long time. Or get your Boyfriend to move to where you are!

    Contact HP in Galway
    http://h40055.www4.hp.com/galway/index.html

They have a reasonably sized in-house IT Support department. Also you could look into their Application Packaging group in the SMS (Software Management Services) Department, who are constantly hiring. You may not be interested in the work, but it is computer related and it is in Galway.

Also CSC provide IT Outsourcing in Galway, they generally work onsite (I think), might be worth checking out.

it's crap. Rain, storm, clouds...sh*te as usual. (actually, the past 6 weeks have been very very nice, but now we're back to November weather, which will probably last until Christmas...)
