    I owe 20 euro as a fine for books but I also have some money on my student card for the printing. Can I offset one against the other.

    doubt it, but you could always ask nicely

    failing that, you could let someone in your course use your student card for photocopying and let them pay you back... how much is on your student card?

    refuse, protest!! cry!!! librarians can clear your balance, I've heard of it being done. Come up with some great excuse?!?
