Buying carpet from a sample

I recently bought a carpet for my stairs based on a sample of the carpet.

The carpet which was put down was markedly different in texture from the sample. The sample looks velvety, the carpet delivered is rough and could certainly not be described as velvety.

What are my legal rights in this situation? What specific part of the Sale of Goods Act would apply?

Under the Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act 1980, anything you buy from a retailer must be:

of merchantable quality
fit for its normal purpose, and reasonably durable
as described, whether the description is part of the advertising or wrapping, on a label, or something said by the salesperson.

13.—(1) Where there is a contract for the sale of goods by description, there is an implied condition that the goods shall correspond with the description; and if the sale be by sample as well as by description, it is not sufficient that the bulk of the goods corresponds with the sample if the goods do not also correspond with the description.
