Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Oul D'Arcy must be counting down the days till Des Bishop is back from learning how to be unfunny in Chinese.

Let's get the Bishop countdown clock started

When it comes to interviews I don't think I ever cringed as much the days I was listening to Ray interview Kevin Doyle (sportsman) and JesseJ (singer/celebrity). The man hadn't a clue and came out with a few whoppers as well.

Why, what did he say to Doyle?

Good interview with Jules Holland just on and an interesting piece about people with dyslexia today. Has been good listening so far.

Enjoying the killian Scott interview good craic and easy listening without being peppered with "omg he's my no strings what a roide" texts! Good job Raymond more of it please

Jesus Christ, that story on now is horrific. That poor poor woman. :(:(:(

Agree, she has had some life. It's admirable how strong and composed she is with dealing with years of horrific abuse. How a father could do that and her mother to stand by him is disgusting and unbelievable.

I think (only came in half way through) they were in the studio today, and they seemed to be doing good. She was talking about doing it as part of her daily routine with the kids etc; and he was talking about walking and stuff in Dun Laoghaire. They seemed to be doing good with it.

No he wasn't, seemed like they were having good craic among each other. Although where he asked her about being a lonely child was a bit odd, the rest of it was pretty decent.

Didn't sound like much craic to me. A few awkward moments. Anyway, each to their own I suppose.

He had them on again? No akward questions about people mistaking the cast for "real" gangsters, junkies or prostitutes?

It was just the guy who plays Danno, I say the guy who plays him because it's not real ya know :-). Surprisingly not awkward considering ray kept mentioning how Danno shifted Jenny years ago!! That being said, if you asked Jenny I'm sure she thought it was pretty awkward ha.

Happened to catch the ray d'arcy show on the day when he had Jenny and the kids in studio before the wedding! Jenny is hilarious!!! However, since the wedding there seems to be no sign of her! Anyone know if shes on an extended break?

The post you referred to was written at 20:47.

Of course Ray wasnt doing 200 push ups or out running - he would have been in bed at that stage.

Have to get this off my chest

Every morning I hop in the car to work at 9am. My ariel is kind of fecked in the car so I can only get TodayFM clearly so I have no other choice but to listen to Darcy

It amazes me how self important the man is. The section where he skims over the papers moralising is possibly the most painful segment in Irish daytime radio

He also managed to completely defame someone doing this today too

Very good, this is a new take on the multitudes of people who seem to have no option but to read the Sunday Independent in various dentist's/doctors waiting rooms or at their parents house;)

    Who did he defame today?

    Who did he defame today?

He was scaremongering about child abuse and said "The Garda who had child porn on his computer"

Worth noting that this Garda has yet go on trial.

Don't get me wrong, I expect a certain amount of discussion about the horrific case of child abuse that took place last weekend. But Darcy has been banging on about it on what is supposed to be a "light radio" show and it's frankly just depressing

Have to disagree with you there. As a parent I am finding everybody is talking about it and trying to find the correct way to explain to our kids. To think that this happened on an everyday occasion terrifies me.
If his "banging on about it" helps some child to say no to being lured away, let him bang on about it. It has certainly made me more concious about reiterating the whole awareness to kids.

Why is there a yellow card here? Surely it makes sense! I mean you aren't forced to listen to a radio in your car like all these people do be at work. So would it not be a good idea to switch it off or put in a CD? I mean surely that's common sense.

But if there are two rules on boards.ie it's not to tell people to stop listening to Ray and it's not to talk about his babbies even though he does it on the show.

    Oh dear.

    :(

I wasn't try to moderate though! I just thought its a fairly standard thing to suggest to someone who was listening to him on a car radio. I thought that makes sense. I couldn't care less if you give him a card. But I don't see why you should be punished for giving someone advice on how to give themselves a happier morning!

I've a pretty old car, and no cd player. Don't own any tapes

plus there's a morbid curiosity in listening to what Mr Self Righteous has to say every morning

Rather that than sit in silence

He usually indicates to his interviewees that he's going to interrupt them with hand gestures?
He must be flapping about all the time.

I had to stop listening to him, he was driving me insane. My work day goes a lot smoother now.
Do we know yet has Kenny's move to newstalk had any effect on Darcy's ridiculously high listenership figures or is it still too early to tell?

I listened to the show yesterday in the car, I found the interview with the round the world guy excellent and Ray was clearly in awe of him (as was I).

I thought it was funny when Ray stated Bhutan (I think) thats my favourite place in the whole world, Ive never been there but i think it would be my favourite place. :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 121 ✭✭Decobuzz

Mairead was speaking off the mic earlier to Jason Donovan and Ray sighs to her "How long have you been working on this show?" The irony of that. I say he's a nightmare to work with.

Ray then proceeds to read out stupid texts like "I love Jason get him to say G'Day to me" I had to laugh when Donovan sarcastically said something along the lines of "I'm amazed by the creativity of this show.

BTW apologies in advance to the mods. I'll take a ban for this post as it slightly criticises Ray.
