I would accept a certain amount of women being maybe intimidated or embarrassed initially to start breast feeding in public to begin with, however in my opinion to put that down to what the church thinks in this day and age seems ludicrous. The bottom line here is a matter of choice, it's not taboo and I'm sure if you went back a hundred years most people were breast fed even members of the clergy when they were children, but it's simply a mother feeding her child. If she chooses to bottle feed that's just as acceptable, although as usual if you don't agree with Ray, you're doing it wrong.

They dictated the social mores of this country. Something that we are still suffering the hangover of to this day. So people unwilling to breastfeed in public because of embarrassment or fear of being reprimanded would have a lot to do with the attitudes to nudity and the female body that were part of the Irish Catholic church.

I think you'll find that in a lot of places it still is taboo.

Cant imagine in this day and age, women in there 20's and 30's that its cause it the CC.
there would be 3 reasons why mothers dont breastfeed in public.
    1. choice not to
    2. church
    3. i think biggest reason; scumbags ie, people staring, commenting, perving

Right well, to get away from the whole breast feeding thing (sorry but it's causing a rows where there really shouldn't be any :) )

Did you hear George Morgan (young rugby player who met Dan Carter this week).

What a little star, he sounded like a lovely young lad, seen his video, talented too :)

Can't believe that that kid still has no ticket for the match on Sunday, I assumed Ray was going to produce one when he asked him was he going, seems strange that he's all over the TV and radio and isn't going. Has somebody called in yet to give him one?

Haven't been listening, but a fiver says they'll ring him up tomorrow at 11:50 and say they've got him a ticket. :P

That'd be cool. I reckon he's a name to remember. In ten years he'll be making his 6Ns debut :)

So after that "chat" Ray had with the Guardian reporter at that trial where Nigella Lawson's dirty laundry is being aired in public Ray read out one text before going to a song. "I don't care about Nigella's drug taking, I still would!". He or whoever gives him the text is really doing the show no favours. If you encourage idiots like this then that's the kind of idiot who'll listen to and text the show

I often ask myself who are these people that actually text this ****e into a radio station.
"He/she are my no strings Ray"
    "I still would Ray"
"I'm dancing around the kitchen with my 4 year old to some **** song you've just played Ray"
"I'm a 20 stone trucker and I'm in tears listening to that poor woman and her 16 kids living in a wardrobe Ray"

I'm guessing it's just one 20 stone trucker with a healthy libido and imagination with a penchant for dancing with his 4 year old in their kitchen.

flicked over on to todayfm about 1150 yesterday morning and ray was nearly to about make a mess all over the studio when he had some woman who was in labour on the phone. sounded like he was trying to get her to hurry up and force the baby out before his show ended.

I didn't hear this but I know it's a dream of his to have a live birth on air. Supposedly she didn't pop it out until 4

Howya, I'm kunst. I'm a twenty stone trucker with a fondness for Higella. I'd do her so I would. She's on my laminated card even if she eats more sugar with her nose than she does with her mouth. I have a four year old and we're always dancing in the kitchen and I always cry when I hear about the old woman who lived in the shoe.

Jesus, the goosebumps and tears in me eyes, bawling in the kitchen brigade are out in force today.

Darcy plays fairytale of new York and a flood of crying texts come in.

You've goosebumps in your eyes?!?! I'd get that checked out.

Why are the crying about Fairytale of New York? Is it because they know they'll have to hear the fúcking thing 6 times daily for the next four weeks?

I think it's kind of funny that he's been giving out about the whole hospital top up gate and these big cats doing whatever they ****ing like because there's "no system" to stop them, and then he goes and plays a Christmas song 2 days early because he won't be in on Sunday. I know they're not reeeeeeeealy comparable but there is the tiniest smidge of hypocrisy to it all.

I didn't hear the song, thankfully

I would imagine Mairead was going on and on about it that he gave in to shut her up!

Only the tiniest  We are talking about Irelands( smallest) biggest athiest here, and hes wishing everyone a Happy Christmas (as in the birth of Christ) every day for the next 4 weeks.

In fairness Christmas has completely broken free of its religious constrictions (all for the good in my opinion), It's far more commercial and the meaning is far more family orientated now. I know an atheist who absolutely loves Christmas.

Anyway December 25 was originally a pagan holiday adopted by the Christians, just think of it as the non-Christians taking it back :D

He played a Christmas song on Friday and bang on cue in came the txts of mothers dancing around the kitchen with their 8 week old and 17stone truckers with tears in their eyes. Surely this is a p#£s take people?

The only thing is its getting way to over commercialised now. Ads on tv for xmas before halloween was even over and supermarkets selling xmas decorations and chocolates in mid october is a bit much. Best part of an 8 week run into xmas this year

Wouldn't let that bother me too much, sure I start on me Chrimbo shopping in January, getting bits for the kids, couldn't afford it otherwise. Aren't all those cookery programmes for christmas made in June?

Ray must have cornered the most emotionally unstable radio listners on the island. Heard him read out a text earlier from someone saying they end up blubbering when they see the boy & snow man fly in the snowman. its nearly like his texters are trying to emotionally out do each other

I hate the say he says 'os' instead of 'us'

I hate the way you say "way", it's very confusing.

Listening to Ray talking to the CEO of one4all vouchers and he keeps harping on about the 800k of unredeemed vouchers last year, the man has stated they have no expiry date but ray still makes these expressions of disbelief about how it's a huge amount of money they are making!! They could all be cashed today or anytime so are not profit. Then he starts chastising the man for not being organised with his figures coming on a national station!!! THE IRONY! By the end of the interview Ray just sounds begrudging ,God forbid a company should be profitable.
