Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

big blow for N.I, he was doing a brilliant job for them. I hope the wheels don't fall off for them now, cause i would love to see them qualify - but i don't see the next man to come in doing as good a job.

On one hand I think it's poor form leaving NI mid qualifiers with everything going so well (don't envy his successor), but on the other hand his contract is up at the end of the Euro08 campaign and he is after all being offered a full time managers job in the Premiership...so personal ambition probably comes first.

It would have been nice if he could have juggled both jobs untill November, then walked away from NI with his head held high...I don't think they'll qualify, even if he had stayed.

Once he took over the caretaker role you knew it would become permanent so it isn't much surprise especially since he has recieved alot of stick from the Norn Iron press over the past year or two and was about to jump back then. I wish him luck, he's a good manager.

    Fulham to sign Healy!

disappointed he's left the NI post, would have liked to see how theyy finished in the group with him there

well he's certainly moving up in the world. tbh, no one should give out to him for getting and taking this opportunity. most people would do the same if they were in his boots. still, ya do feel for NI. it was all going so well...

Jim Magilton or Ian Dowie to take the job???

He will be a big loss to Northern Ireland. He had changed them from a poor enough side into one who were able to compete with the big boys (i.e. the spain game at windsor park a few months ago).

If Dowie took over the job, NI would be lucky to win one more match this year, although I suppose he could give them "bouncebackability"

I'll have to see what odds Fulham are to get relegated next season. I'll be very suprised if he keeps them up. Can only seen this job ruining the repuation he built up managing N.Ireland.

how boutChris Coleman for the NI job? Now that would be ironic...

Dowie would be fave I'd imagine but afaik he's at Coventry City now...
tbh Lawrie just went from the frying pan into the fire. Swapping a good Euro '08 run for what's bound to be a relegation struggle.

I think the north would have qualified under him tbh. Cant understand his gameplan- if he guides N.I to the finals and even a respectable finishing position (last 16, maybe even quarters), he can retire a hero of the nordies and a very respectable candidate for a future career with a half decent prem club. How much does Al Fayed actually put into the club? Seemingly not a whole lot.

I would fancy Nigel Worthington for the NI job. Coventry are about to be taken over by US investors according to the rumours so I doubt Dowie will leave after just joining them.

Sorry, still suffering from the mental scars of 93 here as an 8 year old in Windsor Park. Having watched alot of the (Northern) Irish Cup final a week ago, it sounds as if alot of the soccer fans up there haven't changed much. "Up to our knees in Fenian blood" eh?

I have no sympathy for them and hope that they slump to the bottom alongside teams like Luxembourg, Andorra etc. once again.

I'm surprised so many people think Fulham will go down next season, Sanchez has been promised funds, all they need is two decent centre halves and a goal scorer, I'd be very surprised if David Healy doesn't sign and if Sanchez can get him playing in the premiership like he has for NI, Fulham will be fine.
