i don't know if this would be classed as an illness but here goes:

i spend a lot of time at the computer which was alright until i got a job sitting at a computer all day. i sat really badly and after a few months something happened to one of my vertebrae. i'm fairly sure two of them got locked together.

i left it for a few months and when it didn't get better i went to a chiropractor. he cracked my back a bit but it only gave relief for about an hour at a time.

then i went to a physiotherapist who got rid of the huge muscle mass around the injured area but didn't actually fix the injury.

some days its alright but often i can feel pain around my ribs and all i can do is lie down for a few hours. i kneel at the computer now because sitting in a chair hurts after a few minutes.

i've been doing stretches and stuff which has been helping and i've been more active. it's on the right road now but i was wondering if anyone has any advice as to how to speed the process along?

will i have to deal with this for the rest of my life cos that would piss me off

have you tried accupuncture. i found it really good. also swimming and pilates, massage is good if you can tolerate someone actually touching your back.
you said you were kneeling at the desk, try a swiss ball or exercise ball. i use that at home, it works on the inner most stomach muscles or core muscles and just sitting on it makes your body use them to balance, so it builds the strength up in them, best of luck

Get one of these , Its a bit dear on this site , I remember argos had something very similar for about 100 ,

I hurt my back and popped 3 discs in a fall once , the pain , anyway , I use one of these for the computer , as you can see , your really kneeling , but kneeling in comfort , and I find that sitting in one of these is also great therapy for the back as it forces a correct posture.

Try one , they are brilliant ,

Actually heres a quick edit: I found loads on the net for around 100 or so , they all have basically the same idea , you kneel in the chair as opposed to sitting in it. They are very comfortable by the way , I know they dont look it , but they are.
