Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

At first, my connection to the wireless network/internet was dropping every 3 mins & 1 second....no more & no less.

To try remedy the situation, I reset the wireless router to factory defaults. And this is were it gets weird.

Now, after 3 mins & 1 sec, a continous ping to 192.168.1.1 starts to time out, but yet there is a still a connection to the internet. I can ping the NTL cable modem, and www.o2.ie for example and there is even uTorrent transfers active. I can't however get to the router config page..

Of course, after resetting the router to factory defaults, it is no longer secured and I can't secure it since I can't get to the config page!

I'm using a Linksys Wireless G Router and am about to take a hammer to it unless it starts behaving itself.

So, does anyone know the significance of 3 mins & 1 sec, or know how it's possibly for there to be an active connection to the internet through a wireless router that times out on pings??? :D

Have you tried connecting to the router using a network cable, and configure it that way?

Also try updating the drivers for your wireless adapter, and the router firmware.

Doh! Forgot I could do it directly using an ethernet cable. Thanks for the reminder.

I think I already have the latest drivers and firmware, but I'll have to double check.

180 seconds sounds like a timeout in the firmware for something.
However it might have gone screwy & got confused due to overheating.

Try increasing the airflow around it by relocating, or creating ventilation underneath it. Linksys don't have the most fantastic reputation for making reliable equipment however.

Is it possible you're connecting to the Internet through someone else's unsecured wireless network, rather than your own Linksys? Can you see any other SSID's in the Available Wireless Networks list?

Also, try an ipconfig from the command prompt, and see what the Default Gateway is.
