Bt broadband gone very very slow

    Recently my bt broadband (1mb) is gone very slow i used to get around 800kb and now im down to 20-100kbs. ping speeds are also terrible. Im on the Edenderry exchange.


    Pinging www.google.com [64.233.183.147] with 32 bytes of data:

    Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 389ms, Maximum = 395ms, Average = 392ms

    I think it could be contention as it is usually ok in the mornings. Is there any point in complaining to bt as it think the contention is 24:1. Its like being back on dial up :mad: or do i have to change provider?

    Could you see what your external IP address is? It should say on your router/modem - this site will also tell you.

    Thanks for the quick reply.
    I'm already on open dns i changed ages ago when they were having dns trouble.
    Mp ip is 212.2.172.116

    Hmm, that's one of the normal IP addresses. I dunno so. Was it just temporary?

    It might of been temporary now im at 850kb/110kb but its off peak now, btw my ip address is now 194.125.71.146. Ill see what its like again later.
