.....Awful shame Tempelhof is closed now. What a magnificent location for an airport .....

3rd photo is gorgeous. Were you in an aircraft?
I was in Berlin in June, unfortunately wasn't able to make the trip to TempleHof. Some serious construction going on at SXF in preparation for its becoming BBI.

Thank you. Unfortunately its not mine. :(.
That photograph is on public display inside the airport terminal. It was actually taken while Berlin was still divided. During the Summer of 89 I was told.
I only include it here as I thought it might be of interest to people.

Cheers David, didn't realize RJ's were 3+3 seating, always assumed 2+2 or 2+3 at best.:)

Yeah there's something up with that bloody camera.

The outdoor photos are a good bit better than the indoor ones, and the close up ones indoors are better than the further distance ones, probably just the low light conditions inside which are causing the blur, camera needs to be rock steady if used in low light. (just a guess though:D)

Not great quality. Getting slowly used to a new camera. Didn't bring tripod and the cold meant plenty of shivering, so mostly useless shots.

    Also diverted from LHR
    2x American Airlines 777
    2x BA 744

Good shots, hope to see some more. I didn't know a 744 could land in EIDW. They must of dumped some fuel?

Indeed, its almost like the artists impression of T2 from 2-3 years back.
Will be interesting to see them all checking back into T2 in the morning. ggod trail run for the DAA!!

Really miffed I didn't get a chance to take a few shots. Taxied past them but too hard to take a clear focused shot though a window in the twilight.

No need to. They would have been lowish fuel anyway. But DUB has no trouble with B747s. Air France Cargo sometimes uses a B747F, Singapore cargo B747F up to a few years ago, the EI B741s till 1996.

The thought may have arisen due the runway length in DUB being a limiting factor on fully loaded heavies being able to take off. IE, a B777 or B744 cannot take off from DUB at max load.

  • Registered Users Posts: 616 ✭✭✭David086

Yeah I knew about the 74F's and the 777 load factor.

Wow! They're all diversions from Heathrow? Amazing! I wish Dublin was always like that. Well at least T2 is getting a good bit of testing!
