Oil Syringe?

Does anyone know where one may procure an oil syringe in Cork? It's to, ahem, remove some excess oil from the engine.:o

No joy in Halfords. Motorway were looking for 140 lids for one. They appear to be rather cheap (£12) online from Sealy but I'd like to be able to sort this out asap.

Taking the car to a garage is an option but I'd rather not drive it anywhere and I don't think I could suffer the embarassment.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just loosen the sump plug, let some of the oil out(not all) and tighten it up again.

Have u thought about getting a big one from a vet or chemist and connecting it to some thin rubber pipe?
You can get big enough ones 250ml???

The best solution and a no cost option. Just cut a plastic 2 litre bottle in half and collect the drained oil in it to avoid a mess.

...or pull into a quick-fit place/garage and ask them to use their vac gun....

Got a syringe in a chemist for €2, also asked for a bit of rubber tubing as well (completely oblivious to the strange looks I got from them until I realised what it must have looked like)

Picked up a bit of rubber tubing in B&Q and everything worked a treat.

But finally just wondering how long will the after effects last for? I ran it last night after removing the excess oil but there still was the tell tale smoke coming from the exhaust when I started reving the car above 2,000rpm. Is there anything else I should do?

BTW removing the sump plug was not an option as the car is parked on a steep slope.

How much excess oil was in the engine?

If the car is parked on a steep slope how would you even know when you've got the level right? It'll be safe enough to drive a short distance to level ground.
