The controls feel very natural after awhile imo, A passes, B shoots, numchuck to move and shake the wimote to do a charge tackle, there the basics. There is a very good tutorial in the game aswell.

It's not hard to play. There are some stadiums where so much is going on and there can be so many powerups being used that it gets a bit confusing but it never lasts more than a couple of seconds. Safe to say I'm well addicted to this one and am loving the Road to the Strikers Cup. Finding it hard as well which is always a bonus

I got it today and only know the basics but so far I am hating it, I really hope it gets better.

finally got online, played one best of three, whupped him good and then had a stats error when it was totting up my points. now it counts as a loss. Ninty best get this sorted, me not happy

Loving this game. I'm getting the same problem on every ranked game i Play. I think I've won about 8 and lost 3 but it shows up as vice versa. Bit annoying but then I'm not bothered by what my stats read. Just the online play is keeping me happy.

Keep playing it. At first its seems like the worst game ever because it just seems to be random chaos on the screen with no skill at all. But once you get used to the controls then you can start using your power-ups at the right moments to score a goal or stop your opponent scoring. A really really good game IMO and I am really hard to please. And it only cost me €4!!!

The stats error for online play is a balls but no big deal really, I should have way more wins than losses but my stats lul my opponents into a false sense of security.

Yep.. didn't get to coin in the fact that i played about 5 games at the weekend.

Lost 3, won 2 and won a series game against a random opponent.

Think it's still showing as 3 losses and 0 wins!

Ah well..

After 1 game, it got a big me from me too and I turned it off.

Then after about 10 mins, I thought "one more game". The another. And another. You get the point

After a few days, it's definately the best game I played on Wii since Zelda. The online (once you get logged on) is definately worth the purchase alone. Won my first series 14-1 and 12-3, followed by an epic series where all three games went to sudden death. Awesome fun

I think it's good but pity about the problems with the online. Hopefully, after the initial rush of people playing it will get better.

I played 3 online games against random people and it all of them the lag was awful and I had to stop playing because of it.

Are you sure its not your connection? I played a good few games at the weekend at different times and never had less than 4 star connection quality.

seems to be getting some very average reviews...
Zelda is easily one of the best games that I've played in the past year, can't see how you can compare it to a football game...

Can't say its my type of game. I just found it boring and frustrating. I guess I don't have the patience for it and i don't like the fairy tale type story line. Still took me 41 hours to finish it so about €1.15 per hour of gameplay, not bad.

I don't think so. All games had either 3 or 4 stars, and when I tested my wireless connection on my laptop just after the last game, I was getting pings of around 15 to Irish servers , and 20 to UK servers.

playing the tutorials atm, pretty impressed with it so far. seems very simple and very, very playable

the whole time I was waiting for it I was beating myself up for not getting ssx blur instead, but now that I have this.. I think I'll be more than happy to wait another couple of months before I pick up blur.

The pitch is too small, had i been a bit bigger it would have felt a little less like ping pong. A few lessons could have been learned from the developers playing a few games of the greatest soccer game of all time, Sensi Soccer, genius, please turn up on XBLA, please!

I think the pitch has to be that small otherwise it'd be too easy to run into space and Megastrike. The pitch size being small means that no matter how much you stomp on the opposition, there's always someone close enough to you that when you go for the strike it's a test of nerve to see do you hold out for the 6 balls and risk getting tackled or squeeze out a quick 4 baller.

I have to say, when I'm not playing the game I'm not that impressed with it, but once you've got the wiimote in your hand and the ball at your feet it has a fantastic "just one more game" factor, even against the computer, and it's difficult enough that you run into trouble long before you get to the final cup (unlike, say Mariokart DS or Mario Tennis on the N64). Also, I think the similarities between this game and the football match in Bedknobs and Broomsticks is getting me all nostalgic.

another nice touch is that it doesnt suffer from cheaters syndrome that mario kart and other mario sports title suffer in single player.

its nice to see a cup become quite a close race between numerous characters rather then having 1 character run away with straight wins and if the player looses even 1 game they have no chance of catching up.

Bought this today and loaded it up tonight,the first time Ive had the Wii on in a long time.

Anyway fantastic fun and quite tricky with plenty of game play.Im loving it so far.Just tried to go online for a bash and getting the 98020 disconnected from network error.Patience I suppose.:rolleyes:

I played it with two other friends on my team for the first time the other day. Best freaking laugh I've had in ages, it's a fabulous game. Well worth the wait.

I find it's great for teamwork, if the captain has the ball the others start tackling everyone in sight to give him/her space to charge a megastrike, or a sidekick disabling the goalie to set up someone else scoring a shot.

Also, brownie points for being a game that lets you win 6-0 after going into sudden death.

What's the deal with getting the 'declined' message when you try to play against one of your friends online, anyone else getting this? I was attempting to setup a game with a couple of Boardsies lastnight and got this so I thought they were busy or whatever. I then rang me bro in law and was setting the game up while talking to him and without either of us doing anything it came up with 'declined'. We eventually got sorted but I couldn't understand why it happened. I invited him and he accepted and then it told me the request was delined after about 20 seconds Is it just timing out for some reason?

Got this game today,brilliant stuff!! Best game on the Wii so far,yep better than Zelda. Great fun, havn't played online yet but been playing some cups against the computer,sometimes on my own,sometimes with my brother on the same team which is a good laugh,also been playing a few games against him. Looked at the "Todays playing time" message when I finished up...6 hours and 40mins of Mario Strikers!

They seem to have sorted this out. Played a few games last night and when the other guy disconnected it still counted as a win for me and I got the points I deserved.

The computer is no pushover in this game, at least for me anyway. It's not impossoble eithyer, and there are different challenges you can undertake also, kinda like in Mariokart DS

Diddy bleedin kong is doing my nut in. It got to a point in one of the matches where i had NO PLAYERS bar kritter on the pitch! None!

I managed to win one of the games because we each lost three players at the start and it took me half the match to score.

I havent been this mad at a game since alma in ninja gaiden

This game is the business. I am not regretting it. It is €50 in smyths too.

Fun single player and quoye challenaging to get all the moves down, although u can get by with just megstrikes, passing, shooting and taking down pips.

Lots of depth in the character and sidekick choices. The real challenge is online, when it works. I have had ups and downs. I could not play one single game on Monday in my brothers online (we tried 2x2 match online) either it would lag or drop out before the game started.

I hope the online is sorted out, it is a cracker of a game.

I'm getting more value for money from this game than any other Wii game so far.

I've played about 90 games online and to be honest, I have only had one player disconnect during a game, and that was when I was winning 9-1. Still no excuse though.

Lots of options regarding player selection and play styles. The players seem to fall into 4 categories online...

1) Newbies
2) Those that charge a shot before passing to the big striker
3) Those that play keepy-uppy until they get a white ball to volley home
4) The nutters that just tackle everything in sight regardless of the consequences

What is funny is that while some players are awesome outfield, they cannot save a ball if their life depended on it, and vice versa.

Which category are you in FutureGuy. I'd say i'm a happy mix of 2 & 4. Does me well online too. Having a good season with 28 wins and about 3 or 4 losses.

brother got it yesterday, had a great laugh playing with him on it. Bloody hard to score though (only played around 40 mins though!), games usually ended up being 3 mins of normal time and 15+ of sudden death

The online portion of it Ive not played yet, but it did motivate me to finally sort out the router and wifi to allow the wii connect to the net - definately rekindled the wii for me anyway

Hold the "B" button when in possession of the ball to "charge" it up (or you can complete lots of passes that charges it up too) and shoot (with a good shooter eg. birdo, DK, wario, hammer bros., etc.) when the ball is glowing white then you'll get lots of goals. If there's no charge on the ball then the keeper nearly always saves it.

Finally beat diddy the titty there a few days ago. had one round of the strikers cup and got to the semis. The cup itself seemed no harder than any of the others, the knockout stages are a pain tho. Looking forward to playing

Whats the story with your stats and the seasons online? Do you have stats that reset themselves each season and then overall stats?

The season stats which others can see reset every week. When your logging in your shown how many games you've won and lost overall online. Not sure if there is somewhere else to view these stats though.

Thats what i figured. I'm 4 for 16, cant remember how many SD's i have. Slightly deceiving but I dont mind, I play for the fun of it, if i lose 10 nil i lose 10 nil.

I dont know why people disconnect tho, losing by ten goals is the same as losing by one.

is anyone using the nintendo wifi adpater? my router is on the list of routers that isnt compatible with the nintendo wifi connection but i CAN connect on the wii but not DS.

Does the wifi adapter require me to have my pc on all the time?!
