    Kinda low ?!

Weird thing is that there is a software tool that came with the card and when you push the performace meters up the 3D mark drops by > 10%

Something wrong there.. maybe the graphics card is bottlenecked..

Saw this thread yesterday, got a score of 5000 odd with my E6600 and a 7800GTX, now I'm off to buy an 8800GTS KO.
Can't be having all these people wiping the floor with my pitiful scores :D

Just a few marks short of 4,000 in '06 with my second machine, P4 with X1800XT and 2gb of ram....not bad, was expecting lower due to the cpu

What does that mean ?, how would I un block it...?

What are you getting on 3dmark06? As above, I got just short of 4,000, and thats with a slower P4 at 3.2 and an inferior card - how much ram do you have, and obviously, what do you have running at the time of the test? Best time to run it is when you've just booted up, and make sure no unnecessary apps are running, as well as the obvious stuff like make sure your machine is virus and spyware free

It just means your motherboard cpu and ram might be holding you back.. the graphics card isn't being optimised fully. Newer motherboards, ram, CPU's etc allow the faster graphics cards to run at full performance as opposed to being handicapped by older systems.

    Its not a terrible score..

Try 3dmark06 and tell us what you get..

Mate, do yourself a favour and spend a few extra bucks for a decent cooler, anything around €30-50 should give your new proc the headroom for more performance.

I agree. I can barely get my E6600 to 2.7GHz with the stock coler where most people get well above 3GHz.
I've ordered a better cooler to make better use of it.

Are we talking CPU or Video card?

I can get the CPU to 3.35Ghz and if I put the video card any higher than stock it will just give me a blue screen lol

    EDIT: you said proc lol

    Grrr....

    3DMark05: 11653
    3DMark06: 5976

I hate 3DMark. I'm happy with my setup at the moment, but after running it I want to buy an 8800GTX and do some overclocking. And for what?

Anyway, I reckon my old X1900XT is holding me back, gonna tweak it up to XTX speeds and push the conroe. Its just my Ultra120 isn't properly seated at the mo, idling at 33C, so I haven't bothered.

    Until next time 3dMark.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,505 ✭✭✭✭DirkVoodoo

In all fairness gline, look at the rig you posted with...its like pitting an F1 car against a nissan micra.

    0-17,000 3dmarks in 3.5 secs!

    16778 in 3dmark05 with 2 7900gtx in sli and qx6700.

Your system compared to all 2120390 system configurations. There are 20150 systems with a higher score and 2100240 systems with a lower score than your system.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,635 ✭✭✭Conar

Got my new 8800GTS and got a score of 9870 +/- 5 (in work at the moment) in 3dMark06
    Thats with an E6600 OC'd to 3.2GHz

I was hoping to sneak over the 10k mark but I'm happy with that.

I was gutted when I saw that score then realised it was 3DMark 05.
I'd be interested to see what score you'd get in '06.

I've just set up a new website for automatically handling benchmarks, overclocks, and stuff:

    http://benchmarkcentral.net

When you submit your data, the site updates all stats instantly to include your info, so you can see exactly where you are in the order of merit (no waiting for someone to update the stats).

You can also filter the results by cpu / gpu / cooling, etc, so you can compare your system to other similar systems. You can also edit your stats as often as you like.

Please check it out and see what you think.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,227 ✭✭✭awhir

    reall cool idea man.

can this be added to a sticky ?

or will you just make a new post about this so it will get more attention.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 771 ✭✭✭Sir Random

Thanks for submitting your stats awhir :),

I'll start a new thread for maximum exposure. I presume this is the correct forum to post it in, since it concerns guys who tweak their PCs.

12310 and climbing, am taking a real hit from running vista I think, people with the same rig components and speeds seem to be getting a better score on XP. It's either Vista or the drivers, am going to try the latest Beta later see if it's any better.

Atm i have been running the SMP client fof folding at home. So both cores are maxed out for the past few hours. Both cores are at 47c.

The gtx isnt passing 70c now, but i have a fan that supplies 125cfm of air to it. Thats how i managed ot get the core to 700, and the memory to 1100. Shame i cant move the slider on the ram any further :/
