2006 = 4986

    No screen pic.
    Using rig 2 from sig.

    Cpu at 2560mhz
Video Card Clocked as far as she goes.

im sure you could push that 3700+ a bit further with the ram you have. Could probably add another 600-1000 points onto it with a nice overclock

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

Cpu doesn't make a huge difference anyway. If I overclock my machine by 500mhz I only get about 180-200 extra cpu score.

I tried 3dmark yesterday morning with my temporary X800 and I got something like 1,200 overall....I didn't realise that the graphics card was the main importance to that extent:o

I get 1500 when i overlcock the opty from 2.5ghz to 2.95ghz. The cpu score dosent go up much. but the fps in the other tests ddoes. and gives a better score.

    Here's 12792 with my 8800GTS (single card).

    Specs are:
    Quad @3820MHz
    2Gb Cellshock D9 @ 1150MHz
    8800GTS @ 660/1950

Also, guys can you try posting the compare url from ORB and not the project's url, cause people who are logged on (e.g. myself) can't see anything. It's like I am trying to re-submit your score :(

This is what it should look like:
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=1891072
This is what it should NOT look like:
http://service.futuremark.com/orb/resultanalyzer.jsp?projectType=12&XLID=0&UID=9315881
Cheers

Hmm... I looped 3Dmark again... scores didn't budge much. Hmmmm. I seem to be getting poor SM2 SM3 scores. hmmmm. Well relatively poor compared to clocks. Perhaps its because of too high clocks? Also the card was on its ragged edge. Artifacts were common. hmmm.

Yeah your right it will clock a little bit more maybe 60mhz but then gets very unstable. What the problem is, is my motherboard its v.core options is crap and will only output 1.4 max.

Why i got this motherboard is cause it had AGP and PCI-E ports which was handy for a while. I knew before buying that clocking would be reduced on this board.

There are a couple of mods you can do to the Dual-SATAII to get a higher Vcore.

Loads of info HERE on this board plus the volt mod stuff.

    Mmm 5499 3dMark 2006

Is this kinda low? Only 1 system reference on 3DMarks web site

Intel Core 2 Quad 2667 MHz
    ATI RADEON X1950 PRO
    2GB DDR2 - 6400
    Gigabyte 965P-DS3

No, not really. Get a better card to see higher results....cpu doesn't affect score remotely near as much, the card will decide your score, yours is pretty budget midrange

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,401 ✭✭✭✭Anti

That is actually a pretty low score. I was getting that with a 1950pro and a opty 170 @ 2.8ghz

was tinkering with the 7900gs's yesterday, voltmods and such. They'll pass the nvidia test at higher frequencies, but are then not ATI tool stable.

Can't get aircooling to do the cpu justice though. It will SuperPi at 4.0Ghz on air, stock FSB, just won't do anything else at 4.0Ghz!

    Nice scores out there :)

    Good going for a 7900gs mate :)

8509 in '06 now that I finally got an 8800GTS...

Mines 7600 on the 2005 version

    System

    3.2Ghz, HT P4
    1024MB RAM
    Xtreme Vision 8800GTS 320MB

    Kinda low ?!

Weird thing is that there is a software tool that came with the card and when you push the performace meters up the 3D mark drops by > 10%

Something wrong there.. maybe the graphics card is bottlenecked..

Saw this thread yesterday, got a score of 5000 odd with my E6600 and a 7800GTX, now I'm off to buy an 8800GTS KO.
Can't be having all these people wiping the floor with my pitiful scores :D

Just a few marks short of 4,000 in '06 with my second machine, P4 with X1800XT and 2gb of ram....not bad, was expecting lower due to the cpu

What does that mean ?, how would I un block it...?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

What are you getting on 3dmark06? As above, I got just short of 4,000, and thats with a slower P4 at 3.2 and an inferior card - how much ram do you have, and obviously, what do you have running at the time of the test? Best time to run it is when you've just booted up, and make sure no unnecessary apps are running, as well as the obvious stuff like make sure your machine is virus and spyware free

It just means your motherboard cpu and ram might be holding you back.. the graphics card isn't being optimised fully. Newer motherboards, ram, CPU's etc allow the faster graphics cards to run at full performance as opposed to being handicapped by older systems.

    Its not a terrible score..

Try 3dmark06 and tell us what you get..

Going to up the 8800 now to 687/1057 hoefully it will work out for me... last time I got the BSOD!!!!!!!11111111

Thanks lads, i'm off out tomorrow to buy the following

    ABIT Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI,nForce-650i SLI , DDR2, Socket-775, GbLAN, 2xPCI-Ex16

    Core2Duo E6420

    2GB Geil ValueRam DDR2 800Mhz

Think my old P4 with 1GB DDR Ram is not doing my lovely shiny card justice.

i'll let you know how I get on.

Mate, do yourself a favour and spend a few extra bucks for a decent cooler, anything around €30-50 should give your new proc the headroom for more performance.
