Having gotten SLI up and running with a second 8800GTX i get 12600 in 06,

    Current setup,

    AMD X2 6400+, at stock.

    2x 8800GTX 768mb, at stock.

    4 x Corsair 6400 DDR2 1GB

Is this score about right for this setup?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,624 ✭✭✭Conar

Seems low to me but I'm certainly no expert.
Is that in Vista or XP?
Moving to Vista lost me about 1200 if I remember correctly.

XP 64, though it is an old install, like over a year old.

Obviously using a fresh install on a nicely defragged drive would help the score?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,624 ✭✭✭Conar

A fresh install might help a bit but nothing huge I wouldn't think.
Have you tried a different version of the drivers?

Comparing your score to others posted on http://benchmarkcentral.net/ it definitely seems low for GTX's in SLI but then they're aren't many AMD setups to compare it to.

It's normal for an AMD setup.... E6600 would prob get around 15k with that setup.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

    An x2 6400+ is faster then a 6600 though...

    3d mark 2006

    setup:
    Intell Quad Core Q6700 2.67ghz, 4GB Corsair pc-6400, WD 750gig HD, nvidia 8800 GTX, Windows Vista 64bit

The x2 6400+ outperforms the 6600 in benchmarks though???

    Thats with one GTX??

Surely with 2 I should be seeing a better score then. Plus im running from a 10,000 rpm raptor

yeah its a standard single 8800gtx, no overclocking

Try to tell that to the people getting good scores:rolleyes:
At completely stock for both the 6400 just about wins out in some benches.... any overclocking at all and the 6600 mangles it.

And just so you know....a raptor is the last thing that will affect your 06 score!

    In 06 with a single 2900XT and my E6600 I get 13.5k..... With an 8800GTX 14k and when SERIUOSLY overclocked...close to 16k

FYI..with a quad I'd get 18k give or take and with two 2900XTs over 20k.

Got any ORB links to back this, or is it like your "plenty of ES chips coming" claims? :D

chosen does the most extream overclocker on this planet really need to Show Orb links ;)

No, that's what my friend gets.... I was giving a rough estimate of performance for the guy... My best score is 13.5k, friend's is 14k.. If I had run 06 when I was using dry ice I would have got the 16k in 06 with 8800GTX.
    Just look here... http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=166109

And yes, I can see that Chosen has absoultely MAD skills, and I'd love to some day be at the level he's at. Wish he wasn't so mocking but hey...I'm not exactly perfect either.

Right, so 13.5k plus a lot of theoritical numbers and still no links...

It's not about skills or OC, it's about the attitude. From the moment you joined this forum, you act like a king between hill-billies.
Well sorry to ruin your fantasy, but surprisingly enough this community has quite a few good overclockers and until recently no one with this kind of attitude.

PS: Honestly, where are the ES chips that were "on their way" and why do you keep avoiding posting pictures and verification links for them?
Do you have them indeed or are they figments of your imagination? Unless you were hoping to amaze the "hill-billies" by just mentioning "ES" :)

    Figments of my imagination.

Point I was trying to make was about IRISH overclockers....still haven't seen any good ones.

Why should I link any of these? I'm just telling him what he would get, not trying to brag.

Well actually you told me what YOU get and what YOU could get :p

    That's because I can't speak for your overclocking ability:o

Well I can tell you that is non existant.

Though I would like to maybe get into it a little bit.

I know the X2 6400+ doesnt OC at all really so no point messing with that,

What about the 2 GTXs? Could i get anything extra out of them with stock cooling?

Surely the 3DMark06 score is dependent on the resolution you run the tests at?

I'm having big problems with my self-build right now.

    I get 3767 on my P4 3.2Ghz Slot 478, 2Gb RAM and Sapphire Radeon X1950 Pro.

What's worrying is the CPU score of 681. Although I built the system in 2004, I should be getting better scores than that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

Sounds about right to me. Pentium 4 is a relic at this stage :D

The normal resolution is default 1280x1024, that's what scores are based on.

With a better processor you'd get about 5.5k.

Yup, I'm fairly stuck for options with a 478 socket.

I also ran SiS Sandra and my CPU benchmarked as expected against comparable CPU baselines.

great score  are you running stock cooling on those GT's? Also, that CPU score looks rather low for 3.9Ghz, afaik 3Dmark06 isn't quad core optimized but mine is still a good few points higher than that. I would of expected at least 5000 Marks for a 3.9Ghz c2d.

quads do get higher in 3dmark 06.

the cards are cooled with thermalright hr 03's and 92mm zalman fans

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

You should still get a bit better then that with a GX2 but yes it is the Gx2 holding you back, not a great card today...assume you have proper drivers supporting sli?

I have to say I absolutely hated my GX2. :p

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,824 ✭✭✭RoyalMarine

yeah im hating this one aswel :P

but getting the 8800 when i can.

ill go see if there are any recent drivers. think i got the latest last night but who knows.
