Probably not, Dublin went through issues pretty fast even in those days.

Volvo F86, commonly known in its day as a "bubble", not too common in the South as I recall, North had plenty of them.(note , that one is an import)
even its replacement the F7 is extinct now

Strange its there still because the exporters would have snapped it up.

That ZZ Mustang was in the Honda dealers in Swords, wasn't for sale AT THAT TIME - wonder where it is now?

The Chevy SS in Ballyhaigue, bet Kevin is chartering a chopper as we speak :D:D

Interesting photos, you don't normally come upon 'collections', maybe his work takes him to interesting places:cool:

The Chevy ss was removed from that resting place a few years ago and moved to the midlands, it was fairly bad, I doubt it will ever see the road again:(

    It's only a six cylinder anyway:D

MAYBE R5Gordini running gear might be better, R19 was transverse engine, R4/5/6 mounted lengthwise - the block/mountings would be a straight swop (?) whereas amore 'ambitious' project would have you off the road for a long time :(
The C family (for the Cléon factory where it was produced, also referred to as Sierra in early variants) was a major evolution of the B type, being also a cast-iron overhead valve inline-4 but now with a 5-bearing crankshaft, designed in the early 1960s for the Renault 8. An extremely sturdy, low-cost design, it was continuously refined over its 35-year career and was used in every supermini and compact Renault type up to and including the 1992 Twingo:

    C1C (689): 956cc (65x72); 32 kW
    C1E (688): 1108cc (70x72); 28-34 kW
    C1G: 1237cc (71,5x77); 40 kW
    C3G: 1239cc (74x72); 40 kW; monopoint injection
810: 1289cc (73x77; out of production before alphanumeric codes were introduced); 32-47 kW
    C3J: 1390cc (75,8x77); 43 kW; monopoint injection.
    C1J/C2J (847): 1397cc (76x77); 43-52 kW normal aspiration / 77-88 kW Turbo
    C6J (840): 1397cc (76x77 with hemispherical head); 68 kW normal aspiration, 79-116 kW Turbo
    C7K: 1430cc (76x79
This what you're intending to do ?

A friend of mine had a Bedford CF chip van in the 70's, on a regular basis he would stick the hose from the LPG bottle into the carb when he ran out of petrol.
He became very good at controlling the flow of gas using his fingers to sqeeze the hose.

picture quality from the clockwork phone is dreadful, apologies. The Passat has a 123-SZO reg, so Dublin '82 or so, the Golf has IIC-123, Carlow reg of unknown date, as of yet. DIdn't spot the reg on the Landy :(

IIC*** was issued from Jan 74- Jan75, making that one seriously early Golf!

must go back for a closer look to make sure it's not "TIC" ;)

    Kinda looks like TIC

Is it a van, when did they come out?

Those Golf rear lights are Mk 1.5, from 1980-on.

    Looks like TIC to me

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,042 ✭✭✭Grimreaper666

That Golf is 1982 or newer, that model only came out in 1982 iirc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,318 ✭✭✭✭carchaeologist

TIC*** is, or was Feb 1981 to November 1981. Agreed, it does look like TIC, you will have to invest in a new phone Trevor!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,477 ✭✭✭squonk

My first look at the plate, TIC jumped out at me there. IIRC the earlier golfs had banded rear lights, ie indicator, brake etc all one light placed alongside each other. Later came the style shown here.

I think the facelift came in 1981, which would fit with the TIC reg.

confirmed, it's "TIC" and the Passat is PZO, not SZO as I recalled wrongly. fail on both counts :(

the landy is on a UK "H" reg...
