I cant seem to find a photo of it but YZC801 is a customised Opel Olympia.
    Lovely two door estate.
It was customised by a poster on here, he might come forward with a pic?

A late reply but came across a pic of the Opel Olympia from 2002.

Looks like a Standard 8 or 10, perhaps?

    Nice house, nice photo.

Car and house growing old rather gracefully in their own way

In the Dublin Mountains this morning:

Are the two Mk 1 Escort estates still rotting away in the field to the left of the house? Haven't been up there in 5-6 years.

Looks like everything has degraded a lot since the google car was around in 2009. Is the VW also abandoned since?

    Sorry no pics but...

Today I spotted an abandonded Lancia Thema and Volvo Estate (940 ?) just outside Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford...in a place called Carleys Bridge. I can PM more precise location details if anybody needs them.

I wasnt aware of a breakers yard there nowadays?

I heard that a father and son set-up had loads of old cars but were forced to remove most (all?) of them by the county council a few years ago. I didnt get a good look into the place as I drove past, but there didnt appear to be very many cars there.

I've never heard of a breakers out in Carleysbridge and God knows I've been to all of them over the years.. There's a traveller in the council bungalow who always has interesting stuff outside, tractors, pierces fans agricultural equipment etc. He had a shocking condition 1500 Hunter outside one day, I stopped to have a look but it was completely rotten.

The breaker in Enniscorthy is to the east of the town in Drumgoold villas. He must have 300 cars there. Easy to see on Google earth.

I know that, Padraig Donohoes in Clonhaston. I'm trying to figure out where the elusive breakers are in Carleysbridge.

It's not a breakers just a couple lads with loads of oldish cars and as someone else said they used to be lots more parked right up to the gate. It was just on the corner as you turn in off the enniscirthy to clonroch road I think there used to be an old cream coloured Peugeot estate parked at the gate for years.

I have it now, I was thinking in the wrong direction, on the way out rather than on the way in. He was a bloke with an English accent a very nice fella, very obliging would help you if he could. Just can't think of his name at the minute. Rumour has it that a local busybody reported him to the environmental pen pushers who took great glee in taking all his stuff. A couple of so called "classic car enthusiasts" were ripping him off too. Myself and my father warned him about one individual in particular, a slimey bucko indeed.

That 'yard' has had all sorts of stuff in it over the years. There are a few BJ40 Landcruisers there. There used to be Willys Jeeps and Austin Champs amongst all the crap.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,001 ✭✭✭✭Wishbone Ash

In a field somewhere near the Ballinabarny Gap, Co Wicklow.

    (A Landcruiser I presume?)
