Squareback? If you're American. We called it a Variant. But, yes, there is one.

    It's in Donegal.
I was doing a job at a house, saw this out the back and took the pics. More into old Fords myself and I know it's a Merc and very rotten but beyond that I don't know, except its LHD.

    What is it?

    1st series renault 12

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 551 ✭✭✭trevorbrady

I was leaning towards Renault 7, look at the C pillar grille and the shape of the rear door below the rear corner of the door window, it's kinda pointy...

    nous75_1102417656_renault7_4_.jpg

**EDIT** you're probably right Paul, the 12's rear door is pointy too...

    3628937366_463af35656.jpg

and the C pillar grille is closer to the rear door than the rear window. Right, I've convinced myself, it's not a 7, it's a 12 ;)

If you look closely you can still make out the small 'ridge' that runs over the C-pillar and over the roof, typical of an R12.

AFAIK they weren't sold here or in the UK. I don't know if they made them in RHD at all.
