    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

To superboy....hey, I know you posted this pic of the 1962 Chevy Hearse a while back, May 2007 I think. My interest is in the red Toyota Carina next to it....probably long gone now, but could you please find out where it was...

That was indeed a while back. Here's superboys post you're referring to and here's the pic:

not really and you cant exactly put it on a trailer and bring her with you either, it's a shame but there doesn't seem to be a lot that can be done.
    another pic.

    Kev,
Has it truely been abandoned? is it on a public road way? Were abouts is it?
There are some local council bylaws that might help with saving this old girl, but it all depends on location.
I'm currently chasing up on a van thats been abandoned (9 months and counting) out my way. I've spoke to the owner of the property its on and I've spoken to the local council and garda and i just waiting on word back.

Jaysus, he has a neck on him like a jockeys bollix to put them up on done deal!

Yeah, he's also posted this onto a Land rover website also, I just can't believe he thinks he'll get rich from these.
the short wheeled Landy, you might be able to save her, the the older one, the series 2 fire engine, I'd say not. Too long in the hedge, will have a rusted to bits chassis and if you try to pull it out, will break in half( been there and had it happen to me)
His best bet is to allow a few parts to be removed and then let the truck grab in to collect the rest.
Real pity, I love the series 2

is the gearbox from a cresida or celica the same?

the carin above is long gone as i heard the man cleared out the yard after we got a few motors from there so at least we got to race the hearse before it was baled!

O love private estates, were I live there was a similiar problem, Polish owners of cars, leaving them behind and heading back to Poland. Got onto council, they would touch them as they were in a private estate.
Long story short and for the MODS I'm not suggesting anything, but they were eventually removed by the council when the two cars were on the main road abandoned( Gardas also did nothing for same reason and that the owners were not contactable)
Oh and for the record, I don't know how they ended up on the main road( damn kids)

Anyway, if t he car is parked abandoned in a housing estate, then it CAN be saved, I've done it in the past and I'm currently doing it now( different and long story)If your mate hasn't had much sucess and the car can be easily accessed, then it can be recovered and the rest....well it needs to be explained in detail, but is all leagal and above board.
Were is the car? In dublin? PM me a contact number

I'd love to see her saved.

Nice civic there as well, holding the Jag and Escort up.

What tool would've scrapped them, particularly that mint looking Civic on the bottom? The XJ estate is also quite a rarity, so much so that I didn't think they sold any.

I have a feeling that one will end up on the banger track?

When the Series III Jaguar XJ6 was launched in 1979, Mercedes-Benz had the the up-market estate scene pretty much to themselves, with Volvo and Citroën bringing up the rear.
Avon saw things differently, however, offering this ungainly conversion of the Jaguar saloon, which traded the base car's inate elegance for a cavernous rear-end. Only some 20 years later would Jaguar contemplate introducing an estate car of their own.
Launched at the 1980 British Motor Show – where it was awarded first prize and a gold medal in the International Coachwork Competition – this conversion sought to offer Jaguar customers new levels of practicality, with 35cu ft of luggage space on offer with the rear seats in place, and over 58 cu ft when folded. In this configuration, the luggage deck was some 6' 7" long, and the car came with the £475 option of a rear facing seat for use by children. The car had a payload of 10cwt, and rear suspension modifications were offered (in consulation with Jaguar themselves) for customers who expected to be carrying heavy payloads.
The Anthony Stevens-designed conversion used a Renault 5 rear hatch, skillfully mated to the vertical panel from the XJ6's bootlid; the rear vent grilles were also sourced from the Renault 5. Based on the XJ6 4.2, the car retained the saloon's overall dimensions and as the car required no mechanical alterations, Jaguar agreed to honour the car's warranty (although Ladbroke Avon offered their own cover for the bodywork, paintwork and other aspects affected by the conversion).
Ladbroke Avon planned to build just 250 cars, each one finished to the customer's specific requirements. The basic conversion work cost £6500 (plus VAT), and included the installation of an electric sunroof, vinyl roof, inertial-reel rear seatbelts, rear wiper/screen washer and the extension of the car's central locking system to include the tailgate. The rear-facing child seat added £475 to the bill, while Dunlop chrome wire wheels could be added for a further £428 (again, plus VAT).

The Jag is not the prettiest in my opinion but should still be saved. It seems to be in good condition. I would think that the Civic could also be rescued. Roof may have suffered but should not be too difficult to put right.

Spotted a scrapped Fiat Ritmo Mk1 and a Toyota Carina just on the hill in a ditch beside the Fashion City complex in Tallaght, going onto the Greenhills road. I've been through that road loads of times, but this is the first time I've seen the cars there (I guess they were well hidden behind the bushes).

I'll get a pic the next time I'm up there.
