 weird.....I thought in the first picture that the car was being primed for restoration. Shameful....so I guess the MGB will meet the same fate?

That is so ignorant - at the very least they could have sold them for even the smallest amount rather than do that. But then I'm looking at the Corsa with the classy spoiler and the number 1 on the door in the background and can't help thinking .........rednecks!

That's depressing alright. Strange that they didn't break the 1800S for the brightwork and wheels alone - those cow horn bumpers have a bit of value. On a slightly more positive Volvo note - I bought this last week - it's too far gone to save, but it'll help keep my own 1800ES (and hopefully some others) on the go.

If it was a Bugatti or an E-Type, sure, but the cost of sorting the rot that's taken out the wings, nose, rear hatch area, and sills (and that's just the visible rot - these tend to hide the worst of rust problems until it's too late) would run beyond the cost of buying a good 'un.

I'd have to agree with Kevin. Ones got centre lock wheels, the other 4/5 stud. Also, the "after" photo you can see light coming through from the wheelarch, suggesting either rotten as a pear or spaceframe chassis.

Maybe not a classic yet, but rare enough, spotted this Daimler Double Six in the scrapy yard across from the Red Cow today. According to Myhweels.ie, it has a 6.0L engine!

Its a V12 so,probably why its in a scrappy. That would have been very expensive and a very nice when new 15 years ago. Pity really, but its 15 years away from vintage too! Did you nick the badges from it!? Lol

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,461 ✭✭✭Max_Damage

All badges were gone when I saw it! Was in the scrappy getting some wheels for my Escort and spotted it!

I'd say the banger boys would kill to get their hands on it! :D

According to Wiki, only 3,400 of them were made!

Ah feck'. That was in my neigbour's garden across the road until quite recently. He's a car collector and I never would've thought he'd scrap one of his cars.

Has anyone a phone number for the scrapyard this Daimler's in? I'm looking for a few bits for my one.
