Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all....

The two USB ports on my laptop are dead.
My webcam is no longer recognised and nor is my camera or iPod.

Can anybody suggest anything that I can try to get them back working again.

H/w: IBM Thinkpad T42p running Win XP.

    Thanks,
    MikeTheMan

Delete the USB controller from Device Manager and let it reinstall them.

Has anything else changed? It's very unusual for the ports to just stop working.

Have you tired a system restore?

My iPod will actually charge when connected to either USB Port, but iTunes does not launch.

My WebCam remains undetected as does my digi cam.

I will try deleting USB Controllers from Device Manager, but I have no idea how to perform a System Restore.

    Thanks guys.

    Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Restore

    Lads,

I done as you siggested, deleted USB Controllers from Device Manager and let them reinstall as well as doing a System Restore but still doesn't work.

The USB ports are not 'technically' dead, since either port will allow my iPod to charge. Just seems as if they are deactivated.

Is there something I can check in my BIOS or something?
    Thanks guys,
    MTM

Don't see anything in the Bios would effect it. No power saving settings for USB have you? If you drill deep into the power saving features? Last time I had a USB problem like that I just reinstalled the OS because I was too lazy to spend hours and days trying to find out the problem. It fixed it, but might not in your case.
