i do mtb and have a kona shred.

however i want to do sprint triathlon this summer and need a different bike for it! i'm only looking to finish the triathlon, not do spectacularly so don't want to shell out much.

basically if it has two wheels and doesn't weigh as much as my shred it will do.

    any tips/pointers/freebies out there?

    What's your budget?

If you looking for something for triathlons, a road racer bike is your best bet. You'll pay around €600 for a new one and stuff like the Trek 1000, Giant SCR 3, Specialized Allez or Lapierre S-Tech are usually touted around as a good starting point. There's also a few entry level womens specific frames out there. Once you've tracked down any bikes your price range, see which one fits best and go from there.

If you've a smaller budget, maybe go second hand rather than complete bargain basement. Second hand can be tricky, so if you've got someone who knows their bikes, get them to give you a hand.
