I have been using komplett for the last few years as they have had very competative prices. since last september any dealings ive had with them has been very badly handled by them. Last week i ordered the components for a new system, all items were in stock when i ordered. A week later they email me to say all the components are out of stock and some not back in stock until next month! looks like this company is going to the wall. Anyone know of any suitable alternative suppliers with competative prices & postage?

Have a chat to McKomplett on the Komplett forum and see if you can get answers first. You could try Dabs.ie.

I totally agree with ye that they gotta sort it out at komplett, plenty times over the past year they showed up an item in stock and then left me hanging for a few weeks waiting for new stock to arrive. I guess they don't have a good stock tracking system hooked into the website side of things :-(

They are certainly losing a lot of my business due to it - so I'd imagine its the same for others too.

OKay, back on topic before this turns to a flame war....

Dabs.ie are a good company. Even though they sent my last purchase to egypt... But they did refund me the whole price of delivery, so i can complain.
overclockers.co.uk should be avoided like the plague for many reasons. scan.co.uk i find great as they have some really rare stuff there, and the biggest rang ive seen. Its also alot easier to navigate then dabs.ie which is a complete mess. yoyotech.co.uk have some good offers too.

I had the same issues as the OP with OcUK and Komplett. Komplett even sent my stuff to Germany a few months back.

Recently I ordered a case from Komplett and the components from OcUK. Ordered at the same time. Kompletts arrived 3 days later while OcUk still had some silly status messege like "in warehouse queue". After about 6 emails between myself and OcUk I discovered that two of my items where not in stock. They were then , upon knowing the issue, more than helpful to sort it out. I changed my order and they even refunded me a few euro.

I've worked with a few warehouse IT systems and really they are all the same. The businesses process are all similiar from one company to the next.

I think the old tradition of holding onto your order(and money) until the items come into stock needs to be changed. Noticifications of stock depletion needs to be made to the customer.

The other issue is not really easily solved. When you make your order out of office hours, or sometimes in hours, for that Graphics Card and there are only 2 in stock, you might not of gotten it. Why? Because two others before you put down their order first and the stock list wasn't updated. Some people think that the system should deduct the quantity of stock immediately upon purchase , but that causes a good few issues. But nothing is impossible and technology works for us right? Not us for it.

I waited for over a week for Dabs.ie over my security status, I eventually cancelled the items. There is a thread here http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055060340

As for Overclockers.co.uk, I ordered a 22’ widescreen in February. I eventually got it but they sent it to my home address instead of the student address I specified. As both my parents work there was nobody home to collect the item so the delivery man left it in a local shop, my mum was suppressed to get a message to collect an unknown item from the honest shopkeeper.

I phoned them about this and was told to be happy I received it. Naturally I was not entirely satisfied so I posted this on their product review and they promptly deleted my comment as well as about 30 mostly positive comments, and started again. The delivery cost was just shy of 50 Euro, and in fairness to the delivery man he had the wrong details from Overclockers, and was somewhat understandably desperate to avoid driving into the middle of nowhere the next day.

Whatever about it, the delivery details where there on my shopping log, and it is obvious where its destination was supposed to be, so it was not good value for money on Overclockers part.

Never had an issue with Komplett, but they are milking it.

Oh i can beat that :D

I ordered a x1950pro. Thing broke. Rma'd it. After 28 days heard nothing. Demanded money back after stating my staturtor rights, distance selling act and a few others. They said okay. So i sent them my new bank accoutn details. As my old bank was in the uk and closed. Guess what they did..... The stupid geebags paid the money to my uk account. So now i have ot fill out form's with the bank in the uk as they say they never got the money as the account has been closed. And overlcockers say it hasnt bounced back to them. So now im in contact with watchdog in the uk and the small claims court in the uk.

Beat that :p

Ok enough of the flaming. I personally have had bad experiences with online shopping from various companies but in the majority of cases I accepted I was the exception rather than the rule. You aren't going to get people who received their items speaking out so fervently about how great the service was. Only the people who where dissatisfied are going to use this thread to vent so it will get very biased. The OP is asking for alternatives to Komplett, not reasons why he shouldn't shop there again.

I'm only going to recommend places i've personally bought from and had no problems, i'll sort them by value for money:
1. www.adverts.ie: boards.ie's own classifieds, sold and bought many an item from there and haven't had a problem since. Great service and FREE

2. www.ebay.ie: Generic items like graphics cards and PSU's can be bought a lot cheaper from the states using ebay. Although you'll wait longer and there is a lot more risk involved.

3. www.hitide.ie: for watercooling and specialist items he's very good, and if you live in dublin, he's very easy to get to collect.

4. www.dabs.ie: Cheap with fast shipping. Never had a problem with them.

5. www.quietpc.com: good range of products if you are building a HTPC or just a quiet pc.

Aside from that, i'd recommend signing up to as many tech/computer/overclocking forums out there and becoming an active member. Most of these sites will have a forsale section and you can find some excellent deals buying computer parts 2nd hand from the states, or even in europe.

Its been at least a year since I ordered from Overclockers or Komplett.

Firstly its sad to see komplett has gone downhill so much. I've had many dealings with them over the last few years and have never had too many problems. I even RMA'd some ram which went smoothly enough. From what I've read here though I will definitely be looking elsewhere for my next build.

Despite numerous horror stories of Overclockers experiences I have never had a problem with them. They are expensive for delivery though.

Another vote for dabs.ie and I'm going to add pixmania to the list. I've ordered plenty of items from them and never had a problem with delivery or lost orders etc.

This can't be understated, EVER.

Don't go jumping on the band wagon yet folks. The broadband section is the same. If you went with all the advice there you would still be on a 56k modem.

Very true, but we are paying for a service and in the few cases something goes wrong, the only leverage outside of legal red tape is the power to voice our personal experiences. If we don’t the number of unsatisfied customers will rise. I don’t purchase computer equipment on line very often, yet I have experienced some unacceptable service, and I will voice my objections if I feel I have been met with a less than enthusiastic response from any retailer.

lol cash is risky , credit card is risky , bank transfer is fairly safe unless you post them ur details and tell them to withdraw the required amount :P

• Registered Users Posts: 1,525 ✭✭✭DanGerMus

Yeah bank transfer is no riskier than anything else. Accept maybe Credit cards do offer insurance. Anyway these guys check out i've used em successfully and will again.
I would say set yourself up with online banking with your bank makes things a lot easier than fillin out that long ass form in the bank.

Does anyone have experience dealing with this company?
In particular does anyone know what exactly they mean by "Logistics Costs"

They have a shipping charge to Ireland of €20 plus Logistics charge.

How do you know the cost of the logistics for an order of let's say 10 items?
