    Hey ,

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts or suggestions for this website, some of the links to specific shows are placeholders but the overall site is done

    http://www.phoenixfm.ie

    Thanks

I think it looks quite well. The only thing that I find irritating is the inconsistencies in the page headings.

ABOUT US (with decent sized spacing)
    Our Programmes
    VOLUNTEERS (very little spacing)
    Our weekly schedule
    Advertising (very little spacing)
    TRANSMISSION FACILITIES (very little spacing)

    Nice and neat.

See if you could add some images to maybe the header or somewhere on the page. It just looks a bit bare without any.

The vertical Cyan bar doesn't look quite the same as the horizontal cyan bars it links to. It wouldn't take much to make them join together better i.e. the bevel.

Also there are a few little coding errors on the page that wouldn't take much to fix.
    e.g. from the home page:
    line 51 column 12 - Warning: discarding unexpected </h1>
line 30 column 60 - Warning: <img> proprietary attribute value "absbottom"
line 35 column 85 - Warning: <img> proprietary attribute value "absbottom"
line 40 column 59 - Warning: <img> proprietary attribute value "absbottom"

You might also consider changing some look of the menu item that page is currently being viewed - might make navigating a little nicer.

p.s. out of interest, do ye use computer based radio software? just curious as I am involved in an annual short period community radio station.

Looks nice. Maybe a little too blog-like, but that's not a huge problem - it looks like a nice blog site at least. Out of interest, is there going to be regular 'news' updates on the site? The style would certainly suit.

Looks to be well coded but there's still a fair few errors throughout (particularly on the programs page). They look like the type of validation errors that could be fixed fairly easily, so I'd suggest you do that.

A couple of little things too -- with the sidebar icons, email us, skype, rss, why not make a link out of the entire square, rather than just the icon? I expected to be able to click as soon as I hovered over.

On the programs page, it's not too clear where one entry ends and the other begins. A clearer division (border-bottom per item) would be nice. A roll-over effect per-item would be better still.

btw -- W3C doesn't like using block-level elements, such as h1, div or p, inside link tags (a). What you could do instead is use <span>, and control the text through css classes.

    Thanks for the replys everyone,

@S.M.B, yeah the headings arent very consistent , I have to change those, a lot of that text was just copied directly from the old site,

    @axer

It does have a lot of white space , I'll try and find some pics to flesh it out,

That cyan bar was a bitch to do, I dont have much experience with element positioning/photoshop slicing so I got it close enough and then moved on.

Do you have any tips for this?

On the radio station front, unfortunately we dont use a computer for programming, its minidisks and CDs, yes we are stuck in the 90's, it community radio though so we dont have a lot of money, I'm pushing very hard for a computer though.

    @Goodshape

Yeah I should have validated it with W3, I was using Dreamweaver and although I'm ok with hand coding I find the hints to be useful, I didnt realise that some of the hints would lead to coding errors.

I'll definately make the whole block a link for the mail/rss/skype section.

Also thanks for the <span> tag explanation, to be honest I wasnt sure if it was that useful, I just didnt know what it was supposed to be used for.
    Cheers

I like the layout and the neatness and the icons, good job :)

The colours aren't really my thing, but that's a personal preference. I see you also have my habit of sticking to >=8 letters in filenames.

I'm also really tempted to tell you to use some simple PHP instead of static pages for a consistent heading, but there's really no need at this stage, and you could do it whenever you needed to.
Out of interest, is there going to be regular 'news' updates on the site? The style would certainly suit.

QFT. It does look... news updateable!
