    Hi all,
I'm thinking about buying a Camcorder but I'm not sure what to go for.

Initially I had been thinking about getting a HDD Camcorder for around the €500 mark, but now I'm not so sure.

Would I be better buying a Mini DV camera instead ? If so, would it be easy to digitise the footage (??? Is it just a matter of plugging it in to USB and digitising it onto my PCs drive ?)

What is the quality difference between a HDD recorder and MiniDV.

By the way, the HDD one I was looking at is this one

Basically, I'm looking for a good all-rounder, that I can store the vids onto my PC.

We're going to use the camera for weddings, holidays etc...

So, any advice would be great !

    Thanks :)

can't comment much on the other formats but when i was
researching to buy a cam a lot of magazines still reckoned
that MiniDV offered better picture quality compared to the
others in the lower end scale but saying that with newer
DVD and HDD models coming out the gap is narrowing.

AFAIK importing video from MiniDV is fairly simple, just connect via
Firewire and import using your Video editor, all Video Editors should
    support it.

Personally I have no problem storing on tape and then just capturing
what i need to edit and put on dvd.

Also whichever cam you decide to go for, search the video sites
youtube, stage6 etc, you'll often find sample video and comments
    about different camcorders.
Also camcorderinfo.com is a handy site

also be prepared to wait with komplett non stock items

The one i went for in the end was a Sony DCR-HC96

    okee
