Pings are better too. I'll have to check out the library again sometime over the summer when the heanet link is empty ;)

Pretty pleased considering I live in the middle of the countryside on the side of a mountain.

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

Not bad at all since I'm only in the EDGE coverage but seem to all of a sudden be getting great speeds after updating the E220 modem, here in South Kilkenny

As the crow fly only about a mile from it... But I am on the Rathdrum exchange so I was not all that hopeful.
Also using old Eircon modem (Netopia 3347w)

I hope mine is up to it. I'm 2 miles(according to google maps by road) away from the Westport exchange.

I'm on BT but use my own Netgear DG834PN.

Magnet's speedtest is developed by the same guys behind speedtest.net (Ookla).

The speedtest is always accurate depending on your own setup and your providers connectivity to the destination, where the speedtest server is.

Magnet's speedtest server is hostet with themselfes obviously. Magnet is in general very well connected.

Galway speedtest.net server is hostet by ourselfes in Galway and should usually give quite accurate results, too. We are peered on the INEX, which means a direct connection to various irish ISPs and have multiple fiber links to Dublin. For UPC (NTL/Chorus) it might not be the best choice, because they don't peer with us directly, as we're not passing much traffic to them.

Dublin speedtest.net server is hostet by Westnet in Hosting365 to my knowledge. This should be ok for UPC, as I think they have a direct connection to them.

But make sure, that your setup is ok, when you do a speedtest and no other background downloads are running, because it can't account for those. And if one is on a wireless connection or use Vista, that can be the cause for lower speeds.

    Kind regards,
    Martin List-Petersen
