I've tested the eircom business dsl lines in FBI netcafe in Shop Street in Tuam. 2 x 6m/512k supposed to be 24:1 contention.

Around 8pm I couldn't get more than 900 kbit down/200 kbit up of the one and 300 kbit down/360 kbit up of the other. More than useless. (speedtest.net) Need to add, that I was sitting as the ONLY one connected to the latter of the dsl lines, when testing, as it was just installed that day.

And no, it's not the local exchange, because their own speedtest is giving loads better values, but that's useless, when you want to talk to the rest of the world.

    /Martin

    3 Data Card (HSDPA)

    148979372.png

However, this is pretty amazing, given that it's in Peterswell, Co. Galway, 30 km outside Galway City, in the middle of nowhere and we're talking mobile broadband, not fixed wireless.

Just the upstream seems to be chronic for 3.

Eircom 2mb, to be fair, I often get 230kB/s from private torrent sites, no matter what these tests suggest.

I have noticed unusually high speeds on 3 this evening. Normally it is around 56K . I was getting 3.6 mbps earlier. Something is up.

I have BTIreland "Broadband Option 2" - 2Mb download speed and 20GB monthly download limit.

I've never seen speeds faster than 102KB download and I do a lot of torrents so I'd notice it going faster. I've never relaised my speed was half what it should be! What gives

Try checking in your modem stats page to see at what speed the line is synching at. A reset of the modem may also help.
