First thing this morning I looked out the kitchen window and saw a spectacular rainbow.......something is happening...

The time has come to rid ourselves of the arrogance, corruption and waste we have seen. FF have been in power 18 of the last 20 years. If they get in again, they will be in 23 of 25 years. Bye Bye FF, welcome rainbow!

And we all know what's at the end of that rainbow .......... a pot of Gold!!!

For those of you who foolishly think we're all sooooo much better off with sooooo much money - then lucky you for having access to those gold coins - everyone else in this country is surviving on plastic cards!!!

I'm sick of that dark cloud that is FF/PD hovering over my head - we have the chance to make that rainbow!!!

And we all know that it's a complete myth.

That's why so many stay with the tried and trusted instead of chasing that pot.

Here here...I genuinely fear for democracy in this country if this crowd get in once again..
I really worry about meetings between one of our largest media moguls and FF.It can't be good for democracy and unbiased repoting.

There's no pot of gold at the end of that rainbow. Bertie used it to redecorate someone else's house years ago when his communion money ran out

Why give FF any preference at all?

You know,if I had set up the same pointless thread in favour of the current government, I'd say it would have been locked by now.

Well 8th and 9th preferences are hardly going to be of much significance in a fairly polarised 3-seat constituency like this.

I've yet to vote, will be doing so later.

My top 3 (not in that order) are FG, LAB and IND Rory Hearne.

Is there anything I may not know about Rory Hearne, he seems to be interested in keeping Ireland Irish, and he is also aligned with the Anti War movement.

Dublin SE then? My advice would be to make sure to keep O'Callaghan, Andrews, McDowell and Doolan well down on your ballot!
Quinn's seat is under threat, Creighton looks safe to most pundits, I don't know anything about Hearne, but he hasn't been canvassing Donnybrook, Milltown or Clonskeagh too hectically from what I can see.

Rory Hearne is a member of the PBP which is a front for the Socialist Workers Party. You can't like him, and like Fine Gael. They're at opposite ends of the political spectrum.

Yeah, where is Quality Assurance on this one? At least move it to a Drugs forum, specifically Hallucinogenic ones ... RAINBOW ??/ :D:D:D

I voted for 1)Varadkar 2)Burton 3)Higgins mostly because FF/PDs lied to me before the last GE and I want to unseat Lenihan and see achange of government. I don't like Higgins (or the other two particularly), but at least he's not a crook like our current Taoiseach. I would have prefered the Green candidate instead of Higgins but he's got no chance here and in PR STV they say there's no point voting for a sure thing or a no hoper, it's the maybes you can affect.

Well, my mam voted No. 1 today for FF.

    And why you may ask?

She was promised 300 euro a week pension. She expects the good times to continue indefinitely to pay for this plus she got her smart card for all-Ireland travel this week(nice timing):)

The problems with stealth taxes, sh1tty health service didnt enter her mind as promises of money counts more despite the prospect of 7 hr trolley waits in A&E plus long waiting list for operations IF she gets sick at her age.

Thing is, i expect the grey vote to vote for FF on false promises.

They promised €200 pension last time. It's now €208. She's voting smart if thats the basis of her voting.

Sure but they managed to sneak in a series of stealth taxes, overcook a building boom through unnecessary developer led tax giveaways that resulted in inflationary pressures meaning she can buy less with that €208 than she ever could. Real smart.

That would be because of all the childish trolling that tends to happen. :)

Mr. Hearne has a particularly interesting history in relation to TCD Students' Union.

    1. Property boom probably won't affact anyone on the state pension
    2. So-called "stealth-taxes" are common-place throughout Europe, and are used to target certain action (VAT for people buying luxery goods, yes, VAT is a stealth tax).
    3. If yur ma went back to the old pension, and the old prices, then she would not be able to buy as much as she is now. FACT.

Yeah wish I'd read this earlier - friend of mine lives in Dublin South East and knowing few of the candidates asked me to give him any names for people who didnt deserve a vote at all, as he knew i'm fairly party neutral.

Hearne and O'Gara were the only two I mentioned.
