Well it all comes down to personal taste I guess. I've heard a lot about the MR2 but I think thats the most hideous machine to hit the roads. Don't like the Boxter, don't like the MX5 (although thats not a real car). Love the new VW Eos (is that what its called?)

The SC430 is fab in black. Don't think i'd fancy red either.
The Eos is a Golf convertible and nothing causes me to yawn more quickly than a modern Golf. If you're an insomniac, the Golf could be very useful ;) Interestingly, the three that you don't like are the real sports cars.

Who said anything about wanting a sports car?:p

I know the EOS is a glorfied Golf convertible. I actually like the old Golf convertibles, the EOS has just a smoother, more refined shape - I'd drive one no bother!

Well, I can understand that it's all down to personal tastes and whatnot (has to be, to prefer a converted Golf over cars engineered from the off to be convertible), but what's not real about an MX5, can I ask? It's got 4 wheels, an engine, etc.

.. must be true. Didn't even know it had rear seats!
With a tall lad like me in the front, it leaves around 1" of legroom. Not even big enough to get a baby seat in.

I dont like it either. It doesnt seem popular on the roads, so I wonder if the depreciation on it would be lousy?

A quick eyeball on the net shows a new one for 117,000euro, and a 2004 one on carzone.ie with 20,000 miles on the clock for 70,000euros. Thats a loss of 47k in 3 years! Bye bye. Theres a 2006 one with 3k on the clock for 90,000euro on carzone.ie also. Thats a loss of 27k in 1 year. If my figures are sound, the notion of buying a new one would be non sensical.

Yup, horrendous depreciation. very "specialised" market!

I often wonder about that myself. Perhaps Hyundai paid an Italian to design the current Hyundai Coupe. Perhaps no other Asian car manufacturer ever thought of doing that?

They have many times. Eg the Honda Argento, designed by Pininfarina. Fortunately Honda's own in-house design became the S2000.
