Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Do i need both aerials on my router for wireless to work?

    I know zero about wireless so i have to ask,

    I was just about to buy a wirless pci network adapter for my pc in my attic, about 10m away from my router. I've got eircom broadband and a netopia router, it came with 2 little aerials you screw in the back for wireless, but one is gone missing. Just want to know if wireless connection would still work with only one aerial.

    Tell Eircom the router is giving you trouble make up a story etc etc.. ... ask them to replace it...

    Dont see why not. Doesn't two just boost the range?

    If one went missing, it wouldn't case the router to stop working.

    (Never tested it, but logically thinking I cant see why not)

    wifi routers have 2 aerials which act in a diversity manner. it may receive a stronger signal on one of the 2 aerials and vice-versa.

    Maplin in Blanchardtown have replacement aerials for about €5.... you can't go too far wrong with that!

    If you log into the Netopia router you can set the diverity to Left, Right or Both.

    If you are missing one, just set the router to use the one you have and all should be fine. Aside from that, nip into Maplins and pick up a new one...
