Aine Brady just elected in Kildare North for FF.

Looks like it will be FF2,LAB 1 and FG 1.

    Tallies from RTE-Kildare North, FF 40%, FG 21%, LAB 18%, PD 2%, GP 5%, SF 2%, IND 12%, Prediction FF 2, LAB 1

They say only 3 seats bu there are actually 4 now.
Catherine Murphy is looking likely to hold her seat although FG may push for it yet although they have 800 votes to make up!

PDs are really taking a hammering.

If you look at 2002, FG lost loads of seats, generally to the benefit of the other non-FF parties (though FF did well out of it). Now the non-FF parties are being squeezed to add votes to the FG count.

If FG don't get in this time, they'll need to move away from the "Vote FG" focus to the "Stop voting FF" focus, as it would appear that it's the FF stalwart vote that keeps them in power.

Sorry if this has already been asked/answered, but tv coverage seems to only be referring to 4 seats in Dublin South, and yet all the other sites are mentioning 5 - has DS lost a seat, or has it just not been mentioned yet??

Just glanced at rte 1, it sounds to me like Pat Rabitte is ready, willing and able to kick Enda out of the bed and get cosy with Bertie. Again, I have no problem with that.

Ok quick weird thing - mitchell was announced with 1000 votes too many
those votes now seem to be in Shatters bunch.

what the hell is the returning officer actually at?

These figures are being quoted on Politics.ie

    brady ff = 11239
    stagg lab = 7890
    fitzpatrick ff = 6579
    durkan fg = 5295
    murphy ind = 5162
    scully fg = 4196
    fitzgerald grn = 2209
    mcCauley sf = 1116
    aherne pd = 967

I don't know where the 800 votes this is coming from, Durkan is 130 votes ahead and he can expect the bulk of Scully's vote (mine included). A lot of Fitzgerald's vote will go to Murphy though, both being Leixlip-based.

I still put it at Brady, Stagg, Fitzpatrick, Durkan.

    Not yet, Irish Wolf.

From RTÉ at noon, Cavan-Monaghan, 95% Boxes Open, FF 38%, FG 31%, LAB 1%, GP 4%, SF 20%, IND 6%,

The IND is Paudge, he looks like toast. FF Margaret Conlan is polling well, tight between Seymour Crawford and Conlan, I'd say.

That's the last update BoozyBabe... don't think all the boxes are open yet...

Dublin South is a five seater, as far as I know.

    what I can see is:

    Brennan
    Kitt
    Mitchell
    Ryan
    Shatter

    so 2 FF, 2 FG, 1 GP

They're usually well sauced old farts so you have to expect mistakes.

RTE haved predicted 41 FG seats already and still in the running for a good number more....

Thanks Irish Wolf, that's the best I could get too. Though they did say on RTE that O'Caolain & someone else had been elected.

Newstalk said around 50, but it's coming from Labour and green instead of Fianna Fáil.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,686 ✭✭✭EdgarAllenPoo

Time to play silly buggers, imagine if Labour were to get more seats than Fine Gael, would enda and Bertie go in together, nver mind.

I once considered going into politics but I have an unfortunate tendency to give straight answers to questions so that knocked that career choice on the head.

Sorry I read them wrong but Those figures are wrong also, the correct ones are:

    AHERNE, Jeff 983
    BRADY, Aine 11245
    BROWNE, Gerry 145
    CORISH, Dr. John F. 234
    DURKAN, Bernard* 5340
    FITZGERALD, Shane 2215
    FITZPATRICK, Michael 6606
    McCAULEY, Cristin 1103
    MURPHY, Catherine* 5188
    SCULLY, Darren 4250
    STAGG, Emmet* 7882

Cool, thanks. My figures must have been tallies. Fairly accurate. Thing my analysis still holds though - 9500 FPV for FG with only 5188 for Catherine. Interesting to see where Stagg's transfers go.

Working from memory here but the lay of land in Clare is Dooley (FF) top with Killeen (FF) Pat Breen (FG) and Carey (FG) looking most likely to take the other three seats. It looks like current TD James Breen (IND) may loose his seat. Transfers from the bottom two FG and the Greens will probably come into play.

I think Mulcahy was the lowest of the FG firsts. Dooley definitely top but not elected yet.

Yeah it's pretty bad. Just got off the phone with Mulcahy's son. Only 63% of people registered to vote in Shannon showed up. He was hoping to get around 5000 votes but only got 2800(ish). It could change, but it doesn't look good at all.
