Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Won't play for me but I think that's because all my media is on an NAS server. Can't be bothered copying a file locally as my HTPC is hooked up to the same TV as the 360!

I never got this working i got the streaming music working but the video's where taking so long to start i just gave up on it .

Then i got a PS3 that can save the vids so i never needed to go back to the xbox .

Now My media centre Hard drive is arriving next week 320GB hooks straight into the TV and i can use the remote to choose any of my films vids etc , No need for any PC, xbox, PS3 or routers any of that nonsence .

I'd have to agree about TVersity - It's generally top notch at getting 'unsupported' media formats to stream to your 360.

Although for HD stuff, or video that would need transcoding (Xvid, etc.) you might want a slightly more powerful machine than I have (1GHz) otherwise the play might be a little jumpy.

DivX/XviD are implementations of the MPEG-4 ASP video standard. The Xbox 360 only supports MPEG-4 SP it's simpler implementation in MP4 containers so XviD/DivX will never work out of the box.

The AVI and MP4 are just containers that can hold different types of video, the console also supports MPEG-4 AVC otherwise known as H.264 video in MP4 containers as well.

Without re-encoding the best way to stream DivX in AVI's is to use TVersity linked above which will in real time transcode to WMV.

The situation with the Media Centre Extender is different as it will play the formats below but there is no MPEG-4 SP or MPEG-4 AVC support due to licensing issues so the Media Centre Extender would have to licence the codecs to play them back (something they have not done) as it is considered separate from the Xbox 360's own media player user interface.
    MPEG-2 video in MPG containers
DVR-MS video which is record TV from Windows Media Centre
    WMV video
