Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sheamus Labeled "A Brit"!!! Grrrr

Why is it that when Irish people do well the English called them Brits? This was in The Sun: http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2003560001-2007230770,00.html
    Brits abroad

IF the rumours are to be believed then SEVEN British stars could soon be heading to the States to compete for the WWE.

Over the next two weeks our UK scene reporter ADAM SIBLEY will be giving you the run down on all of them:

Those that have been following WWE for years will be familiar with late great British Bulldog and William Regal. Both have paved the way for Brits in the modern era of wrestling.

Due to wrestling's popularity and the amount of professional wrestlers plying their trade across the globe WWE now offers young wrestlers what are called 'developmental deals'.

This means they have to first prove their abilities and get trained the WWE way at feeder promotion OVW (Ohio Valley Wrestling).

The Brits are currently ruling the roost in OVW with Paul Burchall and Katie Lea - better known to UK fans as Burchill and Nikita - holding both the OVW heavyweight and women's championships respectively.

Now here is the low-down on the guys you may be seeing on Raw and Smackdown in the years to come.

Thee Drew Galloway - Scotland native Drew will turn 22 next month and what a way to celebrate… with a developmental WWE contract.

Drew is a product of the famous FWA Academy in Portsmouth. He has been competing for six years now and has been combining his in ring work with his studies and his other job as a model.

Drew really came to many peoples attention when he started working for Irish Whip Wrestling which is broadcast on TWC Fight and was the proud holder of the IWW international heavyweight title, before being stripped of it earlier this year.

His signature moves are a cradle tombstone piledriver and a swinging side facebuster.

Stu Sanders - Stu definitely has the look of a WWE wrestler standing at 6'7" and weighing in at 260lbs

Stu only has three years in wrestling under his belt after bursting on to the scene as a rookie for NWA-UK winning a 30 man battle royal in his first match.

He trained at the Dropkixx wrestling academy under legendary coach John Ritchie. In his short career he has won the IWC championship and had two tryouts in the WWE.

Hopefully third time is the charm for Stu.

Sheamus O'Shaunessy - Sheamus, the red headed Irish man who claims to be "Bringing Ginger Back" is no stranger to the States.

He was trained at the Monster Factory, whose graduates includes the like of The Big Show and late Bam Bam Bigelow.

Due to his unique look and impressive size Sheamus has been getting a lot of media attention over the last few months including his matches for Irish Whip Wrestling that can again be seen on TWC Fight.

Sheamus has already appeared on Raw when he played the part of a security guard who got a Pedigree from Triple H in the middle of the ring in front of 20,000 people last year at the MEN Arena.

Sheamus was the first ever IWW heavyweight champion and has been a pro for five years.

His finishing move is The F.R.H (The Fiery Red Hand) and he is also known as S'O'S.

Out of these three I would definitely mark Sheamus O'Shaunessy as a one to watch out for as he has the look and with the right training could go far.

The measuring stick for these seven guys will of course be Paul Burchall who is now a three time OVW champion and has had stints on Smackdown with his Pirate gimmick.

Paul has been the most successful British wrestler in the developmental contract era and hopefully this new injection of British blood will see more Brits making household name for themselves.

I'll have four more potential stars of the future for you next week.

It doesn't really bode well for them that Paul Burchall is the measuring stick for the new guys.

Not slagging him off, Burhall's a good wrestler, but a short stint as a wrestling pirate on smackdown is hardly the glory people dream of.

But most people know Burchill's stuff from OVW beforehand too, and "a short stint as a wrestling pirate" is hardly a fair term to use given the fact that just as he'd gotten over with that terrible gimmick, he got injured.

Bit overkill saying SOS is being labelled a "Brit" when the article clearly states that he's Irish! He's in a minority there as far as the rest of the list is concerned. The Canadians kick up the same fuss if it was one Canadian listed amongst four other yanks.

    Happens all the time!
Look at Eddie Irvine, Darren Clarke or Greg Ruzedski!

The Irish do it too. After the Michelle Smith scandal she became "Dutch swimmer Michelle DeBruen"

Darren is definatly a Brit and if Eddie was born in the North he is too.And Greg is no longer British after his outburst in Wimbledon a couple of years ago

They are British when doing well and Irish when they fail

although this case is a bit much as he is also individually refered to as Irish, its true i remember when Murray was constantly being refered to as the best british tennis player he wore a paraguay jersey at the world cup, to emphasise how hes Scottish. Same with Lewis the british heavyweight champ / the big canadian people liked to take a pop at after Rahman knocked his ass down.

nice to see hes the one being earmarked for success tho

I don't think most people would know his OVW stuff. I've certainly never seen it.

Isn't Nikita originally from Germany but living in the UK?

She was born in Germany, but I think she must have moved to England when she was young. She's got a very convincing English accent anyway!

Britain is an island, to the east of Ireland.

They are from the United Kingdom.
