    Hi.

The mother ordered that '€45 deal' from BT ... Phoneline & BB, that you see that ads very. The Sponge cake.

She says, all she knows is that they are posting 'the Broadband' out in the post to her. She hasn't a breeze what to do, hence I'll be getting the call out in the next few days.

What exactly are they sending out, Just A Router, or is there anything else ?
& how easy/difficult is it to install correctly ... Is it a simple case of load up the software & then Plug n Play fromo there ?

    cheers.

She will get the router. Id say it wont be the wireless one and can connect by USB to the computer. May get the router before the broadband is turned on. Usually takes abt 2-3 days after the modem was arrived. The instructions are easy enough to follow. Alot of people just have a pobia abt this sort of thing. Read the instructions and she will be grand.

If the computer has ethernet (rj45) port, use it, much faster and less a resourse hog.

Definitely use the ethernet port if there's one on the PC. Also, make sure to use the filters, that should be included in the box, on ALL phone equipment. This includes Sky digibox if she has one, any fax machine or phone. Also hope she hasn't got a monitored alarm as that can cause headaches too.

If she ordered today then it'll take about 2 weeks for it to be set up and the router to arrive. There's a bit of work involved in setting up the router, have to enter username and password details, but the instructions are actually pretty good so just follow them to the letter. As mentioned above, the router might arrive before the line is DSL enabled, if this happens just give it a few days.

If she gets nothing in the next two weeks, ring BT, as they might have "lost" the order somewhere, stranger things have happened.
