Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

APAT this weekend - Who is playing

I just got my call from the Fitz to say that I am confirmed for this. There has been a notice up for the last while stating that anyone who wants to play should get their name down on an interest list as there was only 20 places left to be allocated. If anyone is interested then it might be worth checking with the Fitz, although I would imagine there are more than 20 names on the list.

Should be a good tournie anyways, and it was stressed that it will be starting at 2.30 sharp on Saturday (I'll still be surprised though).

Who from here got in then? The old thread is a bit long so might as well clutter the place up with another new one. Should be a good game.

    In.

Dom surely you don't qualify as an amateur? While I know you receive a salary it's not like you earn it or anything!! :p

Is there satellites for the last few seats in the Fitz for this or have they been played already?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,403 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

Fcuk it. I won't be playing so as I had no idea they weren't going to run sats for it and just take cash at the desk. I would have been like a flash if it had of been announced.

Well I am certainly not earning money anywhere else other than at my job lately, I can assure you that Olly.

Digiman - There were no sats at the Fitz, they didn't have a suitable date to run them so just took names instead.

    I'm playing.

That reminds me. Does anyone here have the GPS coords for the Fitz for me? (either Irish grid or degrees) Maybe I'm a few decades ahead of the time again, but I dislike those old-fashioned addresses:
    The Fitzwilliam Card Club
    Clifton Hall
    Lower Fitzwilliam Street,
    Dublin 2,
    Ireland

P.S. No, my GPS doesn't have a Dublin map.

I'm intending to be there but there is a chance I might have to travel for work before then.
I'll let someone who wants to play know if that happens.

I'm surprised they didn't offer places to people on the reserve list. Anyway I'd be surprised if there aren't a few spare seats come Saturday afternoon, a lot of the registrations are from the UK so there might well be a some no shows.

You and me both Olly, that's why I am suggesting a civilised one before some nutcase suggests 50 a head or something.

maybe we should freeze it at that to make sure one of us breaks our duck?

    LOL !

Reminds me of the time myself and another guy kept getting dogged in a tournie. I finally shoved on his BB with absolute rags (7 high maybe) and duly dogged his all-in call.

I had to explain my strategy to the table lest they think I was an unthinking maniac rather than "just" a maniac....

"I finally figured out how to win at this game. Find someone who is unluckier than you!!" :D

Maybe we'll do a second last longer Dom just so one of us can "freeroll" the general Boards last longer.

These damn costs are creeping up Olly. Ok private side bet of a tenner each, and a general last longer too. Deal.

Not that I know of Steve. It is something that was annoying me too. I might be able to work something out, but if I do I won't be telling anyone in case it is already done when I get there.

:D:D LOL at these descriptions, I'll find you somehow I'm sure, only a few of the SE crowd know me, I don't think many if any of the Fitz regulars know who I am. I'm sure at some stage I'll knock heads with someone, if I overhear a discussion I'll make myself known.

I'm sure Lloyd will end up getting a seat and I'll find him, I'm not sure who else is playing yet as to who I know.

the fitz scalps is the best all-you-can-eat poker around. max spend is 105, its one rebuy or top up and usually gets LOTS of runner. 80+. great value if you win it.

Dave 'Compo' Compton from sky poker/attheraces will be there doing a bit of filming.

According to the player briefing on http://www.apat.com/forum/index.php?topic=21:
The application form is attached to this thread.
Maybe I'm blind, but where/how?? I assume that we can fill the form out on Saturday, so I'm not worried, but I rather be prepared. Anyone here have a clue?

Myself and Martin playing this tomorrow, looks great

See you all on Saturday 2.30 p.m.

  • Subscribers Posts: 32,855 ✭✭✭✭5starpool

2.30pm sharp was stressed to me, and since the Fitz aren't running it, it might start on time. I still doubt it though, but I will be there before then anyhow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,263 ✭✭✭strewelpeter

The website says that if you aren't in your seat at 2:30 you will be disqualified
    BUT
then they sent an e-mail yesterday that explains :
The event will start at 2.30pm sharp, and registration will take place at the venue from midday. It is important that you bring identification, without which you will be unable to enter the venue. The good news is that any player arriving late will be allowed to play, as the UK law requiring a player to be on the premises for the tournament start, is not in operation in Ireland.
