have to say I hate this structure JP, I've not work it out, but from what I can see after 5 levels your blind stack ratio is bigger than in the normal structure game, which give less value, but its still great value for 150.

my head hurts... isnt having 20k stack starting at 50-100 the same as a 10k stack with 25-50!?? why change the structure jp? i liked the ante's not coming in until level 8+ , maybe i'm wrong as i havent seen this structure in operation.

i'll probably still play though! :p

    Hi Jeff & Ollie,

I agree this is a more aggressive blind structure than my normal structure. I will extend the blind levels to 40 mins.

I have decided to use this blind structure only for the month of June to give anyone who is playing the WSOP ME a trial run.

It is the exact same except there is no 150 - 300 (i.e. 75 / 150 in a standard structure) level.

i dont think that is quite right, i remember working it out when i read the new WSOP structure, you basically loses 3 levels AFAIR by the 10th level.

Ah ya, but by the business end you will have people making bets of millions and that what really counts. Who needs sensible poker when you can get 8 gazillion chips in play?

This does seem a bit silly. Why not start on 25-50 and have blind level 30mins?

I have ran tournaments and played in tournament were the blinds started at 50-100, for reason people start in the wrong frame of mind. For you JP the game is going to go quicker with more chips and the blinds starting higher than normal people generally play looser, not realising how much chips they actually have in comparison to the blinds. People think "ah sure I have 20000 I'll call", and before they know it they have no chips!

I think starting at 50 - 100 is not a good idea, when I first read the post I was looking forward to it but didnt notice the blinds starting at 50 - 100. I will probably still play and watch people lose their chips like I just said :)

You obviously want to hold onto the 20000 starting stack, but maybe look at restructuring?

Jp's structure is exactly the same as this years main event (except that levels there are 120 minutes). If you don't believe that, check this this out:

    http://www.worldseriesofpoker.com/tourney/structsheet.asp?tourneyid=3482&groupid=309
I think it is a good Idea for many to try the structure out on sunday.

he never said it wasn't the structure, he said and agreed with me that there's less value in this structure, someone with time on there hands can work it out, but if you take level 6 and compare the bb to the starting stack for both structures, what percentage of your stack is it. I'm guessing a lot less under the new structure, hence less play, even do you have double the chips, blinds start and increase in bigger percentages.

    Hey Guys,

I just have been informed that the Red Cow has been double booked and so i've had to move this game to a different venue.

This game will now be played in the Spawell, Templeogue.

There will be a full dinner at the main break.

Due to the constraints of normal bar closing times this game may continue on Monday afternoon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,881 ✭✭✭JP Poker

I can see the blind structure is causing some problems.

As mentioned above i am aware that it is a more aggressive structure to my normal game, which is why i have increase the blinds from 30 mins to 40 mins.

The reason i decided to change the structure for this month was at some players request (who will be traveling to the WSOP). It after the first two games people really dislike the structure i will change it back to the normal game.

Hope to see you on Sunday.

    Hi Derek,

To be honest i'm not expecting more than 50-60 players due to all the festivals that have been on in the last few weeks.

Also the Dublin v Meath game may effect the numbers aswell.

A max of 15% will be held back.
€100 for the league (which game is now part of, details in the sticky)
Up to top 3 places getting a €250 ticket for the 24th June (can be used any last Sunday of the month).

61 runners (id imagine it will get more with so many tourneys on this weekend around the country)

lots of play still left with 8 hours gone.

I liked it, it reminds me of the boards monthly which is also a great game imho.

I dont know what your style of play is so cant answer that one

Hand 2: Albert raises KQ, gets a call from QJ, flop is QQK
Hand 3: Albert has AA, guy pushes 40BB tank into him with AQ

Hi JP, first time I played your Sunday tourney. Great game (despite the 'concerns' over the structure). Its good to see a tourney director stay so involved, and enthusiastic, in the 'full' running of the game. Hope you liked your dinner I got you on Monday! Congrats to Mark.....

aaahhhhhhhhh, know you now. Played well yourself. Went back for the Monday night game. Standard highly questionable. Chips left 4,300, blinds 50 - 100. limp utg with KK. 3 calls and big blind raises to 500. I reraise to 1400 and BB calls. Flop J43. BB checks and I go all in with 2,900. BB calls with pocket 6s (the hand I got knock out with today). On turning over the cards the BB say's " I put you on AQ". Turn 9, River.... you guessed it..6. Don't mind getting dogged but to say to me that I would flat call and then reraise with AQ... that hurt. And this is one of the more recognised players at the game (no names, that would not be nice).

Albert raises to 12K with AA blinds 1500-3000, Button SB and BB (Neill Calls), flop is KQT, Bet of 30K Neill ships for 95 albert folds and Teh bettor calls with KJ, Neill had J9 for flopped straight and chip lead.

I think you forgot another hand Lazare or you didnt see it. Albert was playing 240K, UTG calls, SB min raises to 4K, Albert calls with Kc6c UTG calls. Flop is 4c9cKh, SB bets all in 30K, Albert calls UTG pushes for 70K Al calls the extra 40K, UTG has KQ and SB has AA, the Ac come on the river to put give him 1/3 of chips in play with 11 left...

I was at the table for this hand and have played with that guy a few times, he is RUBBISH, he calls with ATC and always seems to hit, last week he called an all in preflop of 18 k with the blnids at 1-2k with 10 6 sooooted, he was on the SB and had 17k more to call, he was up against 10 10 and was dominated, but sure as always he made his flush to knock the other guy out on the bubble.......sicko

ps i'm sorry for calling the 6 on the river but as soon as u said u had been knocked out on them earlier it was only a formality it was coming....:)
