Haven't been there, but from what I can gather it's one of the more relaxed cities for skating. Better off posting this on the Slap and Sidewalk forums.

Yeah, supposed to be a good buzz.
KCDC skateshop in the Brooklyn is one of the central hook-ups
    - they've got a nice lil mini-ramp in the back.
I'm sure they can advise ya where to aim for.

(Brooklyn banks are worth a visit too - they're actually in Manhattan tho  )

    Enjoy

I used to live in Upstate New York, moved back here a few years ago. But its pretty good for skating up north with the parks and all, never got to skate in the city.

Never skated there but I'm sure there is a wealth of parks. Google it, I did and found these links:
This one has an interactive map with all the spots listed:
    http://www.officialnewyork.com/spots/
    http://www.skateboardparks.com/newyork/riverside/index.html

As for the cops, dont fcuk with them. US cops dont take any sh1t! Damn right as well.
    Enjoy your trip
