Right. Rather than the usual "uh why was I banned?" or "why do I have to post a pic of me naked doing a handstand in the middle of O'Connel St. to get access to the Soccer Forum?" I thought it might make a refreshing positive change in Feedback for boards users to state which are their most favourite fora and why.

Which fora do you go to first and why?, or do you always just look at new posts as the first thing you do on boards?

I never use the homepage, so never use the new posts thing.

I usually look at the forums I have subbed first.

    Soccer :p

    Boards Team of course.

    Feedback.

    Linguistics and Etymology.

    Spell Czechs.

    BG & RH.

    B4L.

    News&Media.

    After Hours.

    also these...

    BWS

    Cooking&Recepies.

    Snacks&Sweets.

    Coffee&Tea.

    Veggies.

I also pop into PI most days, Retro, Subscribers, Literature, Puzzles&Quizzes, Dublin City, North County Dublin, few of the Musics, Broadband, all over the General Election forum on the first day of counting, but never Politics. A few other sundry fora aswell, depending on how busy work is (as you can probably already tell, work isn't that taxing as it is)

You're not the first one to come up with this idea, but we could always do with more positive threads :)

I'm subbed to quite a few forums, but, in no particular order Motors (& Classic Cars), Aviation and Aircraft, After Hours (natch!), Politics, and Radio.

I also visit Soccer daily, although I never bothered to get posting permission there.

With the exception of After Hours, which was never intended to be highbrow, I find all these fora to be informative, and almost exclusively troll-free, educational, and entertaining.

The sense of community is generally prevalent too, and helps to make boards what it is.

After Hours, despite its high maintenance requirement (actually not as high as you might expect, when the level of activity there is considered), is in my experience anyway, a fairly laid back and stress free place to visit, where you don't have to think deeply about your every post.

That can be a good thing too.

    What about you DW?

Well my main forums would be Politics (too much lately) and Soccer (too little lately) and then whatever posts seem interesting or require information I might be able to give, I usually shy away from feedback its normally full pictures of cats and insults.

Since dropping After Hours extra time to look about but still have to keep up the smod duties. All Things Retro because I'm stuck in my childhood, Bargain Alerts to help my fellow tight arses, Comp/Tech, Helpdesk, Photography and Trophy Manager. Take a look at quite a few other forums for cleanup purposes and end up reading some stuff there. A few more in the subbed list like ones I moderator and so on.

For me I check my subbed fora daily, if around. Athletics, Cycling, AH, Fitness, Election 2007, Motors, Maynooth and a few others that have light traffic, including Maths.

Lately I've been checking out the reported posts forum, coz it can lead to some interesting threads, if you know what I mean?

These would be the forums that I usually post in/read.

    1. AH
    2. TV
    3. GAA
    4. Soccer
    5. All Things Retro
    6. Motors

Usually click subbed first (actually I've only just started using it strangely).

But if you really want a reason to love boards, look no further than this:

Well for me its, in order, as follows:

    Paranormal
    Home Page
    AH
    Feedback
    Film
    Photography
    Spirituality
    Sex & Sexuality
    Beer Guts & Receding Hair
    lolocaust
    Humour
    Skeptics
    Paganism
    Garden & DIY
    Comics

Other than that I have a flick through a fair few others depending on whats on the Home Page.

I rarely go near PI but I have no idea why?

Use the subbed frontpage as my homepage - I'd go cuckoo without it, there so many fora

In no particular order, i like to dip into Soccer, PES, FM, TV, Film (Reviews), BSG, Bargain Alerts

Into the Science fora for education purposes.

And into PI when i need to read something to cheer me up ;)

As an expat living away from home, Boards IE makes me feel connected to Ireland. I will have so many people to meet next time I get home.

    What do I like:

Religion and Spirituality of course (thats how I earn my Coke and Hookers....have not got much of either yet though.
    PI
    AH

    Moderators
    Dr WHo
King Tar and his nuts of the triangular table.
    Instruments
    Cooking and Recipes
    IT Certification
    Lifehacking
    Mac
    Owls and cats

The community tbh. It's pretty much the only reason I'm still posting in and reading forums on here this many years on.

Smod duties require that my first port of call every morning is the "Reported Posts" forum to see if there are any spammers/people selling wares/porn that needs nuking.
Second is PI to see if everyone is behaving themselves.
Mod Forum to see what's new.
Feedback to see which mod is getting their ass chewed today.
    Help Desk
    After that it's random.

I post here because I am here.

PMs, AH, vegan & Vegetarian, poker, SC, KotRT(If only it was more active), sleeping & Dreaming, Mathematics, Mod forum, feedback, A&A. Then if anything catches my eye.

  • Registered Users Posts: 22,775 ✭✭✭✭The Hill Billy

Feedback first to see who is getting their knickers in a twist & check out the latest cat & owl pics.
Then to North County Dublin to check on my neighbours.
Off to Food & Drink to see what bonkey had for dinner last night.
Then Beer Guts... for some mysoginistic humour.
AH to make me feel sane.

    Then if I have time:
    Work & Jobs
    Gardening & DIY
    Parenting
    PI
    Astronomy & Space
    Angling

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 30,657 Mod ✭✭✭✭Faith

The ones I mod generally get checked first, then Feedback, Mod forum, a secret one, Heroes, Lost, Youth & Student Travel. If there's new posts, then the Harry Potter forum. Now I like to keep an eye on the forums I'll be modding soon. If I have time and I'm bored, I read AH, Fashion and Appearance, Forums, PI.

I love boards for the cat pictures too!
