Calally Ltd, the investment company that is in the process of acquiring 100 per cent of Smart Telecom plc, is to appoint John Riordan as Chairman, Chief Executive and President effective from February 3, 2007.

Riordan has also acquired a significant minority investment (c. 20%) in Calally Ltd, through his family investment vehicle Augustus International.

John Riordan is a former Chief Executive, President and Chairman of the management board of Netherlands-based UPC, Europe's largest cable company. Prior to that he was Chairman and Chief Executive of Princes Holdings, owner of Irish cable company Chorus.
