have many people contemplated this , or is it just morose little me ?
anywhow I'd just like to know what songs Indie or otherwise people would choose in the event of their demise . I have some favourites of course , but the one I'd most likely pick is Only Sleeping by the Beatles .
If this thread has been done to death ( ha pardon the so obvious pun ?)
or if people think it distasteful , then I apologise

Johnny Cash - Streets of Laredo. And I want the people carrying my coffin to wear long black coats and stetson hats. Women will be crying uncontrollably all over the church and then one of them will stand up and sing Nobody Does it Better by Shirley Bassy. Nice.

It is one of the more frequently recurring music board threads.

Generally, the songs chosen fall into the following categories:
    • Something obscure to show how arch and varied your musical taste is. Oh how the mourners will appreciate Autechre rattling around the church.
    • A "that'll show em" type of song to get along the lines of "you didn't appreciate me when I was alive so now I'll inflict musical retribution from beyond the grave".
    • Something allegedly humourous like Always Look on the Bright Side of Life. This will be be 85% less funny in practice than in theory.
    • Some highly inappropriate act of hubris like Simply the Best.

Do you routinely take all the fun out of things?

Hey amy! I don't plan on dying so i haven't really thought mouch about this! Something by Elliott no doubt...

    LOL :D

"The Great Gig in the Sky" from Dark Side of the Moon gets my vote. Otherwise, pretty much any track off Dirty Three's Ocean Songs.

I'm not a huge Arcade Fire fan, but 'Cold Wind' is my funeral song. Also, 'I'll Follow You Into the Dark' by Death Cab is pretty great

I want to be cremated after all my bits are salvaged for others, so 'Blazing Away' would be appropriate...

...otherwise "In the Mood' by Glen Miller as I am being fed into the oven, good enough for Peter Sellers then good enough for me.

"Intervention" by Arcade Fire. There's already the organ in it and the awkwardness of "working for the church while your family dies" would be funny.

Or "Megalomania" by Muse with "Paradise comes at a price that I'm not willing to pay" could be suitable too.
