    Make a sketch of the region of the plane represented by y>lxl and y<2+lxl

    Any ideas???

    They don't seem to ask those "make a sketch of the region of the plane" questions anymore...

    Not that it's very hard or anything.

    Think about the points on the graph y = lxl . These are in a V shape coming up from the origin. (the red V in the graph)

    y > lxl has all points above this V shape
    y = lxl + 2 is the same graph, except the y values are 2 units higher (the blue V), i.e. 2 squares higher. y < lxl + 2 has all points below the blue V.

    So if you have both of these inequalities, then you have the area between the red and blue V's.
