Siúcra - not the same now!

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed the difference in Siúcra lately? The granules are much finer (like castor sugar) and it takes twice as much to achieve the same desired sweetness. :(

Presumably, since the demise of the sugar beet industry, Irish Sugar are now sourcing their raw material elsewhere and merely bagging it here.

I think they may be using inported cane sugar instead of beet.
