Just watching Stormont 'live' there on BBC2 and noticed that John O'Dowd (SF) keeps calling the Speaker the Ceann Comhairle. This is surely incorrect as the translation of Ceann Comhairle is literally Head of Council, not Speaker of the House which is the correct title in Stormont. They are using a term appropriated from the Dail. Obviously they have their agenda and believe that using the irish language at every given opportunity is somehow beneficial but at least use a correct translation. Refering to the speaker as a Ceann Comhairle will only wind up unionists who have really been quite indulgent of SF's 'overuse' of Irish thusfar. I wonder will we ever see a day when what is quite a nice soft language will be left alone and not used as a political tool as has been the case for quite some time now.

An Irishman speaking Irish in an Irish assembly. Is this really worthy of comment?
