Ok, looking for a decent quality video camera for hobby film-making and college. Im a first time buyer so not looking for top of the range stuff, but not s***ty handheld nonsense either. Not too worried about HD.
Looking at around E1000-1500 range, give or take a couple of euro.
Something along this kind of thing?

sony pd170 is the best indepedent filmmaker camera in that price range if you look around for a second hand one.

It has excellent low light quality, so if you are shooting alot on the go and cant set up lights.

It has dual xlr input for quality sound support

Supports both mini dv and dv cam

and its a well built camera overall.

If you cant find it in your price range, its younger cousin the vx2100 has the same great image quality but lacks the excellent sound or dv cam support.

there's also the older models of the two (the pd 150 and vx 2000)
