Tattoo design courses?

How do you become a tattoo artist? somebody recently told me it was a trade but this person also talks alot of ****e so I wasnt sure whether to take it directly as truth :D Are there courses you can do etc?

I'm sure courses exist and I can't vouch for the quality of them, but it's more a skill than anything which is why the best way to go about it is to get an apprenticeship and spend one year at the very, very least apprenticing.
