Connecting xbox1 to monitor.

I’m looking to connect my old xbox1 to a wide screen pc monitor with no speakers :

( I’d like to use either my 2.1 or 5.1 speaker system)

The screen has dvi and vga inputs.

(give the old fella a good send off before the elite arrives on our shores)

There's one here but it only does 4:3 resolutions for connecting to the display so if your screen is wide you wont be able to set it to the native resolution of the display.

Is theres no way around the wide screen issue? I know you can set the display on the xbox dashbord to widescreen, is that just for use on widescreen tvs?

As far as I'm aware yeah that's just for widescreen TV's.

I think there are ones out there that support PC widescreen resolutions like the X2VGA it's just a case of finding a way to buy it. Note the X2VGA would only display native res if you have 1280x720 or 1920x1080 monitor.

I've a vd-z3 with the hi-def cables, do you have a modded xbox ? (to enable 720p)

No just bog standard ! I am going to get a mod kit for it though as I'd like to run xbmc on it and stream music films etc to the main tv.
But for the moment I'd just like to use it on the monitor (resolution 1440x900) would the vd-z3 be able to handle that resolution and also did you get it in europe?
