    Howdy Car lovers,

I'm in the market for a diesel motor with a budgest of about 25K (max).

    I'm thinking the following,

    Audi A4 1.9TDI (approx 2003)
    Audi A3 1.9 / 2.0TDI (Approx 2004)
    Honda Accord 2.2 (Approx 2004)

Then also the Alfa GT 1.9JTD (Approx 2004)

What kinda mileage is acceptable these days on diesel cars? Cos there's lots of em out there with 70K on them...

Feel free to recommend something else to me if you can think of anything!!

    Cheers for help :D

    Dave

You could get the New Fiat Bravo 2007 which is due out here next month. A really beuatful car this car when I seen it a a rececnt motor show is nothing like fiat has ever brought out. I think the disel is 1.9 turbo jet. Take a look at it on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEqV8U_PkFQ

I am hoping to buy it but will wait till Jan 08 to get an 08 plate.

Go with the A4.Lovely car to drive with plenty of poke, good economy and the better looking of your choice

Normal diesel mileage would be approx 25k per year.Once it's regularly serviced and maintained it should go forever.....

I've got the A4 tdi myself, like the man says, lots of poke, good build quality and image, and won't bleed you at the pumps with 50mpg+, plenty more if you drive it sparingly. Which I don't.

If you're not trading in, look about up North, better availability and generally better variety up there, better spec too.

That all said, I'm hoping to pick up a 04/05 Alfa GT JTD this time next year. Cracking looking car and 20bhp extra over the Audi. Droooooooool....

How regular should you service a diesel engine?

Im looking a a Passat TDI at the moment, would it be any more often than a petrol engine?

It neither would out poke the GT or Accord, nor is it more reliable than the accord, nor is it better looking than the GT. Also uninspiring to drive.

a late low milage Rover 75 CDTi Connoisseur imported from the UK stacked with extras and chipped to bring the BMW diesel up to 160bhp.

then spend the money you save on a long holiday, some clothes for the wardrobe and a nice big flat screen TV for the bedroom.
