Hi guys need some help.I live on the southside of dublin around cabinteely.

Just to keep a long story short

I bought my sisters 1999 Honda Civic Saloon car, A girl hit into the back of her 2-3 weeks ago and the back bump is pushed forward and the boot wouldnt open.We got it open to get the stuff out of it but had to attach a string to it to keep it shut.
She claimed insurance from Quinn direct and i purchased the car back from them today. Now the question is can anyone recommend any place in South dublin that can have a look at the car as i want to get the boot and back bumper fixed. Its not much damage at all as i have looked at it carefully and it seriously looks fine.

Can someone who works in Honda / Panel beater etc please contact me through PM as i want to get a quote soon

    Thanks in advance.

If you paid QD for the car then it was an insurance write off that you bought back. On what basis was it deemed to be a write off (presumably low value and high repair - but how high?)?
Is the car a mechanical write off and if so/not who told you? Visibly there may not be much damage - that doesn't mean that there isn't significant chassis damage and do you want to drive a deathtrap?

Thanks, I got it really cheap that even if i have to spend a bit of money it should be fine.I got 2 quotes and they are less than 2k to get fixed but i want to show afew other people before i decide what i want to do.The car id driving perfect and has no problems at all.Except the boot wont close and bumper is minorly pushed in.

    Any chassis damage?

    Boot floor?

Dude, if it's an insurance claim the garage will usually(sometimes) jack up the prices. Tbh if QD are paying bring it to the clostest Honda garrage and get it done.

Go to a scrappy for your parts mate. I can give you numbers for panel beaters and repair specialists but chances are if the boot won't close those parts will have to be replaced.

there is nothing to that repair tbh, an easy hours work, nothing that a sledge hammer and a block of wood wont sort out, chances are they are just going to slap a sound deading pad over the damage, but not to worry about given the choice between two price €150 - €1K+ i know the one i'd choose.

By the sounds of it it's far from written off. Who knows why Quinn did what they did, but it sounds like a stroke of good luck for the OP.

Yeah you are right. It needed a new boot lock and the bumper is slightly pushed in.I got the lock fixed and it cost me 150,yes just 150 to get repaired. Now i will get the bumper puched back and i will put it through the nct next month.i am booking it in in the morning.
I got a savage bargain from the company and they were fighting today to get the car back as they said they sold it to me too cheap but my solictor fought and they agreed it was their mistake and now the car is on my name and they cant do much.i know its worth between 3.5-4k for sure.So i am a bloody happy camper :)

I would bet my last dollar that either the boot floor is creased, the bumper & bumper bar/reinforcer are beyond repair and/or a new tailgate is needed to repair it properly. Doesn't sound like much, but add paint/labour and you're talking the value of the car.

Unless you strip the car, you wont see the damage....but that doesn't mean it isnt there.

Qualified engineers see every single car which is written off.... and they don't write them off for 150euro.

But, at the end of the day, if it looks ok, goes ok and u got a good price, happy days!

I have got it checked by my mechanic and another garage. They said nothing major exxept boot lock and if i want the car perfect then new bumper but i can just get it repaired.its no cracks in it its just a little space between boot and bumper but will get it fixed for cheap before nct.It drives perfect and is spotless inside.I will get pics up once i get them as i cant connect my phone to the pc.

You said earlier u got 2 quotes and they were just less then 2K.

'space between boot and bumper' - that can't be good.

I've see pics of cars everyday that look like they've a tiny dent on the boot/bumper, but estimates can be as much at 4-5K when the car is stripped, due to damage behind the scenes.

Quinn wont just repair cosmetic damage...they have to repair the whole lot.

There are always salvage bargains to be had...every day of the week with insurance write offs.

Well quinn have nothing to do with the car now.So i am getting it repaired.I have the boot done and now i might just keep bumper as it is as its in good nick.I did get 2-3 quotes in total but most expensive was around 2k and cheapest was 150 for lock and havent get a cheap quote on bumper repair.I will get that when im abit free as im in no rush at the moment as its fullt functional car.

    Thanks for the help guys
