Ive seen them, for vermin control on a shooting estate. The one I saw is a single barrell and the whole barrell is the diameter of a tennis ball. Only for specific shooting (shooting a magpie amoungst pheasants etc). Not for serious shooting!!!!!

Ok, you got a problem first off.Your gun is a semi auto.
That means you have either a gas or recoil system.Neither of them lend themselves very well to conversion to a suppressor design.Recoil, because the barrel reciprocates into the frame, which makes it difficult to build a full suppressor for the gun. Gas actions need the full power of the gas of the shell to operate their actions to reload the gun.
Any gas bleed off before the gas hits the loading/unloading mech will prevent it from operating properly.
If you can live with a manually operated silent semi auto, and then change out the barrel for a normal unsuppressed barrel..well ok.:(
Not saying it cant be done.BUT it isnt a simple job of swopping a barrel. You are into custom work, and the only folk who I know could do this are specialists in the US who make custom silencers for US govt agencies, police armed forces. Then you are into Class 3 permits, export certs etc etc.Not really worth it. Sub sonic ammo,MIGHT work in your gun,but then it may not properly cycle the action.

2nd option.Swop the semi for a pump action or single barrel. There is a crowd in the UK Saddlery& gunroom? that does a good Mossberg package of a suppressed and normal barrel. About 300 euros.

3rd] leave the old dog at home, and get a new fellah and train him not to be gun shy.:D

A silenced rifle is awkward,a silenced shotgun is like swinging a piece of scaffolding pipe!As pointed out it is a specialist weapon,in hunting and clandestine military /police work. For obvious reasons, but it is in the field of silencers it is the most underveloped area,as it really doesnt warrent much work.
    Hope this helps somwhat.

If you're going to go the silenced shotty route, the "Hushpower" is well regarded. No personal experience though but worth checking out....

Pedersoli make a silenced single barrel. Its like a full length can down the barrel.

    :D:D:D;)

Wendell Diller has a 9-13 oz. - 31 inch extinction that utilizes the screw in choke threads of a conventional shotgun.

    QUIET GUN FACTS
Inventor: Wendell Diller, is from Oakdale

Feature: A 7-foot-long, high-strength aluminum barrel. The long barrel has strategically placed holes, or ports, that diffuse noise-making gases produced by the shotshell. The gun sounds more like a loud air rifle.

Advantage: A quiet shotgun could be used effectively to control goose populations in suburban or urban areas where gun noise would disturb homeowners. Diller also is developing a slug shotgun that could be used on deer.

Ammunition: Diller has been using handloads that travel at subsonic speeds of 875 feet a second, thus further eliminating the "crack'' of the shotgun blast. Target shotgun loads travel at about 1,200 feet a second. To increase the shell's knockdown power, Diller has been using shotshells with nontoxic tungsten-nickel pellets that are heavier than lead. The loads are lethal and effective on geese at 40 yards.

Recoil: It's much less than a conventional shotgun.

Lead: Shotgunners are familiar with the method of "leading" moving game. Diller says his gun requires a 25 percent greater lead. He has invented a tracer shotgun load that helps gunners adjust to the additional lead. Trap and skeet shooters quickly have learned to use the longer gun, Diller said.

Weight: About 1.6 pounds heavier than conventional shotgun.

Commercially available: Not yet. A patent is pending.

    Feature: A 7-foot-long, high-strength aluminum barrel.

That'd be the carbine version then :D
No carts needed with a barrel that long............gives new meaning to the term "reach out & touch 'em" :D .

OK I thought he was joking about the lenght until I checked the site - ah well, no need for highly trained snipers anymore we'll just attached a really long pole and poke the guys in the eye!!

I know sweet F.A. about guns but thats the stupidest looking weapon I've ever seen. It's like something out of a Monty python sketch.

The dog wont hear the shot that kills him!!!!!!!!!

The silencer mighn't make a jot of diiference. The silencer won't silence sound in higher frequencies. In other words, a dog's more keen hearing will still pick up a big "bang" whereas our ears won't, similar to a silent whistle:)

As such it is not a silencer.BATFE dont classify it as one,but as a ported barrel extension.
Reminds me of the pistol the Joker [Jack Nicholson ] used in the first Batman film. When you pull the trigger, does a big flag unfurl with the word BANG! on it under the barrel?:D
Nice try ,just not quite there yet.
