Who are the clowns that put up the "Keep off the Grass" sign in the Grove?

Just noticed this and cannot believe the stupidity of this.

the Grove\Park management committee apparently on the advice of the landscapers.

personally I think its stupid as well, and that seems to be the consensus (on here at least). So what if the grass is a bit patchy, why bother having green areas if kids can't play on them.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to get to the residents meeting last week - did anyone bring up the subject?

Yes this was brought up, most people there thought the sign should not have been put up. Both management Co. & Residents comm. did say they were wrong in going ahead and putting it up without getting the true feelings of residents. They thought they were acting in peoples intrest on the advice of the landscaper that the grass there could not tolerate ball being played on it.
It was suggested to them that it was taken down but no movement there yet? Another good point made was that perhaps they should put up "No Speeding" signs to make better use of the money spent.

Hilarious....... the resident's committee appears to be losing the run of them selves. As representatives of the people living here, how dare (especially those without children) make a decision on our behalf without prior consultation.

With the advent of mgt companies and so many residents committees as a result, it appears these guys like their power.

The amount of characters on this forum from these committees who have been shot down with ludicrous ideas is now unbelievable.

I agree Dubsgirl, that speeding signs would be much more appropriate.

This is a residential area........ and that means kids will be around. To deny them to play whatever they want on the grass is simply a crime.

We are living in the real world NOT THE TRUMAN SHOW!

alright, alright, calm down. They've said they'll remove the signs. They can hardly call a residents meeting every week to discuss every little issue - its hard enough to get people to attend the annual ones.

This is the feelings from numerous people in and around this particular green.

Point is that the whinging brigade have taken this 1 step too far.

Look we all agree an error was made. To clarify....

The commitee were contacted by several people regarding the erosion of the grass and were advised to keep people off it to let the grass re-grow. The main problem was that there were older people playing football on the area and not the children causing the damage. A sign was put up but it was not meant to stop the children playing (FACT). Anyone living in the Grove know that all the children still play so there is no problem there anymore.

Enough snide comments have been thrown around this site in relation to commitees etc. I suggest those of you who like to throw comments around get on the commitee yourselves commit your time and effort free of charge for a thankless job. Personally I would never join a commitee when I see the crap they get from people who like to talk and do nothing. Maybe some helpful comments and advice might help them as they can only act on the information they get and as someone said earlier they dont have time to contact the whole area over every single thing to get consent. Yes the sign shouldnt have gone up...but lets all get over it. The kids are playing and we are all happy. :D:D

Agree inch but why then did they put the sign up in the first place it looks permanent enough and a sign is a sign means what it states. Bet the management co. ie the residents will be charged 200 or 300 for it. Next years accounts should be watched and youll all end up with an extra tenner per unit for it.

Well as none of the residents sanctioned this, then our friends in the residents commitee (who appeared to have such a hard time of late) can pay for this out of their own pockets.

Dont be absolutely ridiculous dubrunner - why dont you go and nominate yourself for the committee next year and be the perfect commitee member who can do no wrong. You seem to think it is easy just to sit at home or at work on your computer shouting the odds and suggest childish remarks.

Do you actually live in the part of the Grove we are talking about and if so have you not talked to any of Neighbours. I as a parent have talked to a lot of the parents and we are all in agreement that the signs shouldnt have gone up but the matter is now over. The matter is done and dusted. Do you want to take the commitee out and stone them too while your at it...are you on some kind of witch hunt!! Please " Build a bridge and get over it"
